About this listen

Book 8 in the Gaunt's Ghosts series.

Infilitrating enemy-held Gereon, Gaunt's Ghosts must deal with daemonic killers, reluctant allies and the taint of Chaos itself. Their mission: to find and stop a traitor general.

Listen to it because:

Gaunt's Ghosts, as a handful of troopers - including Gaunt himself - embark on a deadly mission into the heart of enemy space...a mission that Gaunt has personal reasons for wanting to finish. It's a deadly journey into the darkness of Chaos that will change the Tanith forever.

The story:

An Imperial general has defected to the enemy, and the secrets he carries could spell the end of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. Colonel-Commissar Gaunt and a small team from the Tanith First must infiltrate an enemy-held world and gain the trust of the local underground, all the while trying desperately to avoid the ever-present taint of Chaos. Their mission: to stop the traitor general from revealing his secrets - by any means necessary.

Written by Dan Abnett. Narrated by Toby Longworth.

This might be the best Ghosts story so far . The incursion onto a chaos world was a nice setting change

These books just keep getting better

Gotta say this is probably one of the best in the series. A return to crazy heroics, dark humour and fantastic action. Key enjoyment is having some more explanation of the workings of the enemies universe and a more nuanced take on what can lapse into a goodies vs baddies light fiction.
Excellent narration. Highly recommended

Back to awesome

Despite the smaller scale, quite possibly the best book thus far.
Definitely loved hearing the other side of the war, hearing how they operated and strangely how little they know about Imperial culture. Fascinating.

Less War - More Insurgency

Easily one of the best outta the series. The story is smokin hot. Like a 40k version of the dirty dozen, set on a imperial world taken over by chaos forces. Explores weird mutants and freaks of chaos that havnt been written about in previous books or other Warhammer lore. If ya arnt a Warhammer fan ya soon will be after listening to this badboy. Rock the hell outta it ya won’t regret it.

RED HOT. ONE OF THE BEST

I really loved this entry in the Ghosts series - the world building of Chaos was enthralling. Abnett gives life & purpose to what we otherwise just call "Chaos" - he crafts their bureaucracy, their hybrid technology, dark culture, & deep thought on how Chaos subjugate & rule their territories, all fascinating to me.

Best of the series so far?
