Publisher's Summary

Anxiety - it's the worst: choking, stifling, smothering, tingling, panicking, brain cutting out, bad decisions. You're a human being, so you know exactly what's being said here.

Dr. Faith Harper lays it all out: what anxiety is, what it's good for - that's right, it's actually a necessary response that helps to keep us alive in bad situations - how to know when it's gone overboard, and practical tips on how to deal with it when it gets bad. This book is a lifesaver for panic attacks, breaking out of flight-or-fight-or-freeze responses, and for chronic anxiety. It's also good for folks who aren't daily burdened by anxiety, but want to better cope with those tough situations that affect us all. Listen to this and breathe!

Language gets some getting use to...

The material in this book is excellent. I purchased it to determine if it could help one of my students. However the amount of “off color” language becomes almost distracting. The term “A little goes a long way” really applies here. Please tone it down a tad. I’m hoping the suggested exercises will prove to be helpful. Thank you for taking your time to prepare such a book.

Narrator made me fall asleep

I really wanted to like this book, I listened to it twice on audible and just couldn’t stand the women who was reading the book. I can’t tell if a robot was reading it or if it was a real person because it’s sound so monotone. For example on some parts that had some vulgarity it should have been read with a little more emphasis, and some parts of the reading lacked emotion, it was like watching a bad acting scene, only instead you are listening to one. The content was ok, however it wasn’t anything you couldn’t find on the web. The thing that irritates me the most is the narrator. Almost made me want to cancel my membership all together during my trial. Hopefully I can find other good books that will change my mind.

Amazing awareness

Been having trouble with anxiety for a couple years now. Been getting in the way my daily life so I figured I would read a book and find other perspectives on what I’m going through. The awareness and real ness of this book blew me away. I love the descriptive language and multiple perspectives it Offers. As well as finds the perfect balance of empathy and being strait forward. Also great humor as i chuckled more times I can count. I will be listening to this over and over. Thank you!!!!

Get a different anxiety book

I couldn’t finish this book and I’m all for cursing. Read Rewire Your Anxious Brain instead, because it’s much more helpful and doesn’t have the annoying “we’re buddies” theme to it.

This Is Your Brain On Anxiety

If you have previously purchased the audible book “Unf_k Your Brain” by Faith Harper and listened to it entirely, then you have already heard the majority of “This Is Your Brain On Anxiety.” As I listened to “This Is Your Brain On Anxiety” by Faith Harper I realized I had already heard the majority of the information in “Unf__k Your Brain,” which was redundant. Don’t get me wrong they are both excellent audibles, but once was enough regarding “This Is Your Brain On Anxiety,” after having read “Unf__k Your Brain” first. I loved the author’s humor and candor.

Too Cringe to take seriously

Theres an awkward amount of cussing in this book to take seriously. When David Goggins does it as a Navy Seal it’s one thing, but as a PHD talking about a serious subject, I’m like WTF!? As someone working in the medical field, I can’t take this authors writing serious. Tips are Basic and not worth your time. Better off getting tips from the Brightside on Youtube.

Meh

Thought this would provide some kind interesting vantage point on anxiety. The narrator sounds like Microsoft Sam. I really don’t understand this “bro” trend with dropping the word “fuck” just to grab the reader’s attention.

Good read or listen

Made me laugh beacuse of the way it is written. Good philosophy background to support the main subject of the book. Can't wait to read and watch all the books and movies suggested.

Swears unnecessarily

The author swears necessarily continuously through the book. This makes it practically impossible to finish the book.

Unnecessary Swearing

The author has managed to make herself look like a complete clown, and completely undermine the message of the book, by swearing completely unnecessarily at every opportunity.
Embarrassing. She sounds like the fishy kid at school trying desperately to fit in but just is trying so hard that it has the opposite effect. Grow up. Or should I say, ‘Grow the f%#* up’.

Unecessary swearing, seems she gets off it!, what a shame.

She couldn’t go 2 words without swearing. This was meant to be a book written by a Phd holder
