Publisher's Summary

Our thought lives have incredible power over our mental, emotional, and even physical well-being. In fact, our thoughts can either limit us to what we believe we can do or release us to experience abilities well beyond our expectations. When we choose a mindset that extends our abilities rather than placing limits on ourselves, we will experience greater intellectual satisfaction, emotional control, and physical health. The only question is... how?

Backed by up-to-date scientific research and biblical insight, Dr. Caroline Leaf empowers listeners to take control of their thoughts in order to take control of their lives. In this practical book, listeners will learn to use

  • The 5-step Switch on Your Brain Learning Program, to build memory and learn effectively
  • The Gift Profile, to discover the unique way they process information
  • The Mindfulness Guide, to optimize their thought life and find their inner resilience

Dr. Leaf shows listeners how to combine these powerful tools in order to improve memory, learning, cognitive and intellectual performance, work performance, physical performance, relationships, emotional health, and most importantly a meaningful life well lived.

Each of us has significant psychological resources at our fingertips that we can use in order to improve our overall well-being. Dr. Leaf shows us how to harness those resources to unlock our hidden potential.

Great new perspective

The information is great I like how it’s laid out. I’m going to have to get the physical book now to really put more practice into the work.

Unfortunately there was very dry reading of this it isn’t as enjoyable to hear. I listen to Dr. Leaf’s podcast there’s a lot of emotions and inflection in her voice. I wish she would read her own book.

Worth the listen

It was hard to get over the readers voice but the information is worth you listening. Usually I would listen to her while jogging outside.

Everyone needs to read!

Narration was better when I upped the voice speed. Content is AMAZING and easy to understand as a novice. What an amazing world it could be if this was taught in schools.

WHAT, HOW, AND WHY YOU THINK, FEEL, AND CHOOSE!

This treatise reveals the underpinnings of who you have defined yourself to be, believe and behave and act.

Both your conscious and subconscious mindsets are always interplaying with one another.

In the final deliberation of what you experience, you have the innate power and freedom to change your life and its results and outcomes.

Thus, seize the opportunity to think, learn and succeed righteously and nobley.

amazing book

Love the information but I would probably not recommend audible but instead a book or kindle. there are many questions and also parts I would like read and process and go back to. but it is an anointed book as is the author. I am grateful for God's wisdom in this book!

Great knowledge, bad narration

This book was full insightful information and knowledge that while in some ways familiar it gave so much more new knowledge and science behind practices. Very clinical at points but the tools given are simple and practical. However the narrator drained me. I t almost made me turn off the audio book and just go by the hard copy.

A lot of big words!

My husband and I listened to this audio book. I thought I’d absolutely love it because of all the reviews. I wasn’t a huge fan. It gave a lot of reference to another book and then said had helpful information about it in chapter 22. I nor my husband found the information helpful. Too many big words that do not explain the how and the why or how to apply the book to every day life. It does offer some good advice but not the kind I’ was looking for. I don’t want to purchase another book just to have a sales pitch on purchasing another book.

Excellent read

I have been hooked to this book from the beginning. It has been the undoing of negative thinking that I have used as a way of thinking for years. I never quite understood how this impacted me until now.

This book takes logical and profound systematic thinking to process why we need to think properly how that helps us to direct our thinking in a positive way.

I am a Christian and a happy one too. I believe that God has given each one of us an opportunity to be the best that we can be. Sometimes (I think)we need to be kinder to ourselves. This book allows for a change in how you think, so if you desire change like the bible tells us we need to, I would recommend this book. The beautiful thing about audible is that you can simple listen to it whilst you’re going about your daily business. Excellent work Dr Leaf! Thank you very much for explaining how different things can be when you think they can.

At first, it seems to confuse us with jargon

There is much use of neurological jargon, even more technical words than neurons, axons, dendrites, and synapses, which we readily understand.

Initially, I thought it would have been much better simply to explain the methods devised by the author, instead of discussing the intricacies of the hypocampus' function, etc.

However, having patiently waded through the book, I discovered that what it does is to take well-known ideaa and explain them in neuroscientific terms. By doing so, Dr Leaf clarifies admirably how the mind works to help us learn how to succeed or fail.

I'm now a fan of the author.:-)

Not her usual standard.

This book is so hard to follow. If you’re not a neuroscientist this book is not something you can relax and read.
As much as I like her previous work, this book contains no new information. Lots of research cited which is useful for some, but I’d rather have the facts laid out and then how to apply action instead of knowing about each doctor, professor, university etc that conducted research.

Hard to digest

I tried to make sens of this book but is to hard to follow up , not captivating in any way , no story behind it . It try`s to explain how your thinking process works but but terminology is hard to capture.
I read Chimp Paradox and the writer dose a better job explaining your brain by replacing each part of a brain with a character that takes you in the direction of the usefulness or badness of the process . Like , Chimp , Human , Computer ...
