About this listen
Every grave has a story ... The much-anticipated new novel in the Cormac Reilly series, from the no.1 bestselling author of The Ruin and What Happened to Nina.
For years the boglands of Northern Europe have given up bodies of the long-deceased. Bodies that are thousands of years old, uncannily preserved. Bodies with strange injuries that suggest ritual torture and human sacrifice.
When a corpse is found in a bog in Galway, Cormac Reilly assumes the find is historical. But closer examination reveals a more recent story. The dead man is Thaddeus Grey, a local secondary school principal who disappeared two years prior.
There's nothing in Grey's past that would explain why he was murdered, or why his body was mutilated in a ritual manner. At first, progress on the case is frustratingly slow and Cormac struggles to keep his mind on the job. His ex-girlfriend, Emma Sweeney, is in trouble, and she's reached out to him for help—Emma's new husband has gone missing in Paris, and the French police are refusing to open an investigation into his disappearance.
Cormac is sure that he has found Grey's killer, and is within hours of an arrest, when another mutilated body is discovered on the other side of the country. Two days later, a third body is found. Press attention is intense. Is there a serial killer at work in Ireland? Has Cormac been on the wrong trail? And if so, can he find the murderer before they strike again?

A Gripping Return for Cormac Reilly!
I really enjoyed The Unquiet Grave by Dervla McTiernan. It was great to have Cormac Reilly back in action! At times, I found it a little confusing jumping between several different storylines, but the story still pulled me in.
Aoife McMunn’s narration was outstanding as always—she really brings the characters to life and makes the listening experience a pleasure.
Looking forward to more Cormac soon!

Another magnificent book!
Crime novels sometimes have plots that you can track easily and see what's likely to happen. Not Dervla's novels! They twist and turn, leaving you completely addicted for what comes next. Her characters are always completely believable and often quite magnificent...even the nasty ones! Read on of her books, you'll end up reading them all. Highly addictive and absolutely brilliant!

Weaving magic
Thoroughly enjoyed the book, and series, which was captivating and so well pieced together throughout. Clever in a way that leaves you wondering how it will all come together, but it does

Great to be back in Galway
Preordered this book as I enjoyed the past three in this series so much. Sadly, the gloom of the weather and the characters in this story almost overwhelmed me. There was very little further character development or hope for their futures. Some parts of the book felt unfinished, small threads left untied, as though editors were rushing the author to a deadline. Thanks for letting us go back to Galway Dervla, but hold your ground next time, and make it as brilliant as Book 3!

Worth the wait
I loved this book and adore the narrator. I know it was worth the wait but please don’t leave it so long until the next book in the series. Thank you.
