A Series Review
I wish that I would be able to edit my review of the first book in the series to add the thoughts I am about to state here.
The series title 'The Empire''s Corps' is a poor choice for this series. This is not a series about a space marine corp. Battle does occur often in the series, but the storyline is about the fall of civilization across multiple light years in distance and why it fell. Each book focuses on one reason the civilization fell and the reason is mostly viewed through the eyes of a small set of exiled Marines. I would have named the series 'Professor Leo Caesius, The Waning Years of Empire (banned)'. Yes, it is a long title but it is what the series is about.
This is a socio-political treaties in a very fun read. You may not agree with the conclusions stated in this series, although it seems to be common sense and seen in our own history. This should not take away from the enjoyment of the books. The characters are rich and Nuttall builds them in a way that they are sympathetic. I care enough about the characters to feel said when they are harmed or killed. The action is fun, and many times the action is unique.
If you love dystopian, apocalyptic, military and/or politics you will love these books. This series is not hardcore science fiction. I am very happy to have listened to the 9 books.

Intriguing
This is book nine in the Empire series. This one goes back to the heroine, Terran Marine Belinda Lawson, of book three “When the Bough Breaks”. Belinda has been tasked to insure security of a conference of leaders of the core worlds. Glen Cheal an Imperial Marshal, has been assigned to head the security for the conference and Belinda is assigned to him.
The first part of the book takes place on Terra Nova with both Belinda and Glen are arresting the rioters. Glen’s partner is killed but Belinda was able to save the rest of the team. Glen is taken off his case looking for the nihilist and is sent to Island One to take command of security for the conference. The second part of the book deals with the conference security.
The story is about political intrigue and espionage. The book is well written and held my interest. I wish there was less repetition in the book. I am looking forward to episode number ten. Jeffrey Kafer has done a good job narrating this series.

Belinda is BACK!
Let's face it- if you've read this far into the series you realize that it is closer in structure to a season of a television show than a series of books. This "episode" does not disappoint, and leaves me chomping at the bit for the next. Belinda Lawson, of When the Bough Breaks- is back- and we get another couple of characters to fall in like with as well.

Another side story
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I don't understand why this author uses a whole book to resolve plot lines that can take only a few chapters.
He needs to focus on the CommonWealth - Wolfbane war. Why would he spend so much time on the society that the Stalker Stalker's built if he's not going to going to write about it?
No one cares about the core worlds, they are history.
Would you be willing to try another book from Christopher G. Nuttall? Why or why not?
Not really, I've read/listened to more than 14 books from him and out of those, only 6 have been really good. The rest are a testament to how he derails a good story
What three words best describe Jeffrey Kafer’s voice?
Drops out of character a lot
Was The Thin Blue Line worth the listening time?
It was boring, predictable and filled with exessive dialog.
Any additional comments?
He needs to stop being afraid of his creation. And learn how to develop a war story around an interstellar military campaign. I want to see formations, deployements, logistics, strategy, camaraderie, sacrifice, the cowards, the heroes, the cynics, etc
Stop beating around the bush!!! stories like "Reality check" are insufferable!
And please, stop mentioning rape and bribe in every chapter. It gets old.

Great book, but the series is incomplete
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The entire series is a great story, well narrated and, at times, a riveting sci-fi adventure. My only warning is that Audible has (to date) chosen not to make the last three (3) books available, so be warned not to get hooked on a conclusion that isn't forthcoming.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Thin Blue Line?
The build up to conflict with and the unscrupulous rouge Admiral that is duping both sides for her personal gain.
Any additional comments?
If Audible wants to increase sales of Sci-Fi (or any other book) that is part of a series, then they need to offer the WHOLE series, not just the first half. This is the third such cliff hanger I have encountered from Audible. In the future, I will NOT purchase a series book until I see ALL the books available.

A dud of a story
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Spend more time creating a story instead of filling the story with just words. I do not understand why this book is part of the Empire series. It has some information re: the Empire, but little to do with the Marines or the Empire.
Has The Thin Blue Line turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Would you listen to another book narrated by Jeffrey Kafer?
Yes
What character would you cut from The Thin Blue Line?
All of them

Would you consider the audio edition of The Thin Blue Line to be better than the print version?
I think the experience of being read too is a great diversion and I can lie back, close me eyes and emerge myself in the story
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Thin Blue Line?
the humanity of the marshal when he takes the young spacer girl under his wing
Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances? How does this one compare?
as good as the rest of the series and can not wait till next episode
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes I did find parts moving but would not admit to tears
Any additional comments?
I have read the whole series up to the latest, the Tinn Blue Line. When is the next coming out?
