Story
Arthur's Seat had never sought a galactic role. A relatively new colony world, a mere 300 years old, the planet was always isolated from the galactic mainstream. But with the Empire crumbling after the fall of Earth and other planets taking advantage of the chaos to make their own bids for power, Arthur's Seat suddenly finds itself playing host to tens of thousands of unwanted immigrants, refugees who have been kicked off countless other worlds.

Story
Despite the escape from Meridian - and a strike at the heart of Wolfbane - enemy forces are still advancing on all fronts. The Commonwealth, worn down by a year of hard fighting, is reaching the end of its tether while Admiral Singh, having secured control of Wolfbane, is searching for the breaking point that will shatter the Commonwealth once and for all. Time is needed, time to bring new weapons and tactics into service, but time is the one thing the Commonwealth doesn't have.

Story
Earth has fallen. The Empire is no more. Old certainties are collapsing everywhere. Chaos is spreading across the stars, with war following in its wake. Tarsus, a world too close to Earth for comfort, is far from immune. Clarence Esperanza, a reporter on Tarsus, thought he had the story of the century. But, when he took the story to his bosses, he was unceremoniously fired. Cut off from his former friends, abandoned by his wife isolated from the world around him, he thought all he could do was stagger onto the streets and wait to die.

Publisher's Summary
The Commonwealth has won a great victory, smashing Wolfbane's attempt to take Corinthian and driving Admiral Singh's forces back into enemy space. Now, as the Wolves reel under the impact of their defeat - and powerful factions plot to take control of the government and military - Edward Stalker plans a final offensive to bring the Wolves to their knees.
But as mighty fleets clash in the inky darkness of space, infiltrators struggle to weaken a tottering edifice and both sides brace for the final confrontation, it all comes down to the last Terran Marines and a battle that will determine if the galaxy is to be united once again...or thrown headlong back into a new Dark Age.

Engaging
I am a bit slow in getting back to this series. All the books have been working up to this confrontational climax between Stalker and Admiral Ronni Singh. This is book number 14 in the series. It is best to read this series in order.
Nuttall is an excellent storyteller. I have thoroughly enjoyed his books. The plot has the usual Nuttall twist and turns. It’s great to follow-up on the characters I have been reading about since book one. My favorite character is Jasmine. Nuttall has a way of writing that the characters become your friends. I guess this is the final book of the series as Nuttall has tried up all the strings to the storyline. The author writes very realistic battle scenes.
The book is almost twelve hours. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the series. Kafer is a voice over artist. He specializes in narrations for corporate e-learning, commercials and audiobooks. He is an award-winning narrator. I enjoy listening to his melodious voice.

Too much exposition
The book drags from the get go. While the character development is extensive, it’s unnecessary since this is the xteenth book in the series. Few readers will be jumping into this particular book so the chapters of backstory are not going to help the target audience.

Too dull for words!
I like these characters and wanted to know the end game on this series. I got through the book but it was SLOW! First, could Jeffrey Kafer be any more dull. His "Dragnet" narration of the story was almost too boring to care about the plot. Christopher Nuttall needs to go back to writing school. His use of repetitive phrases; "chill down the spine, nightmare...was kind of campy in the beginning of the series, After 14 books, it's just annoying. I want to find out how the story ends but can't take any more of this author or the narrator.
