To the consternation of the patrician, Lord Vetinari, a new invention has arrived in Ankh-Morpork - a great clanging monster of a machine that harnesses the power of all of the elements: earth, air, fire and water. This being Ankh-Morpork, it’s soon drawing astonished crowds, some of whom caught the zeitgeist early and arrive armed with notepads and very sensible rainwear.

Story
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a policeman taking a holiday would barely have had time to open his suitcase before he finds his first corpse. And Commander Sam Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch is on holiday in the pleasant and innocent countryside, but not for him a mere body in the wardrobe. There are many, many bodies and an ancient crime more terrible than murder. He is out of his jurisdiction, out of his depth, out of bacon sandwiches and occasionally snookered and out of his mind, but never out of guile. They say that in the end all sins are forgiven.

Two tunnels in his head . . .It’s not easy being a witch, and it’s certainly not all whizzing about on broomsticks, but Tiffany Aching – teen witch – is doing her best.Until something evil wakes up, something that stirs up all the old stories about nasty old witches, so that just wearing a pointy hat suddenly seems a very bad idea.Worse still, this evil ghost from the past is hunting down one witch in particular.

Time is a resource. Everyone knows it has to be managed. And on the Discworld that is the job of the Monks of History, who store it and pump it from the places where it's wasted (like the underwater; how much time does a codfish need?) to places like cities, where there's never enough time. But the construction of the world's first truly accurate clock starts a race against, well, time for Lu Tze and his apprentice Lobsang Ludd.

- By Michael on 29-03-2017
Publisher's Summary
Deep in the Chalk, something is stirring. The owls and the foxes can sense it, and Tiffany Aching feels it in her boots.
An old enemy is gathering strength. This is a time of endings and beginnings, old friends and new, a blurring of edges and a shifting of power.
Now Tiffany stands between the light and the dark, the good and the bad. As the fairy horde prepares for invasion, Tiffany must summon all the witches to stand with her. To protect the land. Her land. There will be a reckoning.

Wonderful!
I'm so glad Terry Pratchett's last book is about Tiffany Aching and the witches. To me they are some of his finest characters, full of immense humour and compassion and love for humanity, as is this book.
Tony Robinson's narration is superb: his choice of accent is absolutely flawless, and his pace and dramatic interpretation perfect for the book. I laughed out loud on several occasions.
I don't normally like reading or listening to abridged texts, but I thoroughly recommend this one.
Vale Terry Pratchett, and Bravo Tony Robinson!

great story
Not Terrys best but still brilliant if you have read all other disk world novels this will really pull on your heart as two of Terrys favorite characters finish up their story. I hope that others that have collaborated with Terry in the past can carry on the disk world series as a tribute to the wonderful world that Terry has constructed. Rest in piece Terry and thank you for the stories and the many laughs your characters will all be remembered fondly.

Pratchett nails it as always, narration was OK
I've been a fan of Pratchett since I was a child, this wasn't a book I had read and I was glad of the chance to listen to it. I am a fan Tony Robinson on the TV however I don't feel narration is quite his thing, which surprised me, but I couldn't listen to his narration of Wyrd Sisters at all. This was one of his better ones but I still hunted around to see if I could find it narrated by someone else. Overall it's an amazing story and well worth the time to listen.
