I loathe the concept of self discipline, and have always been suspicious of it. This book confirmed my worst fears about self discipline, namely that external accountability rather than sincere internal examination is highly effective. Self-alienating and self-invalidating techniques are the vogue right now, and sadly, they work. I don’t want to be a navy seal.

Horrifically confronting
