Publisher's Summary

Primal Blueprint author Mark Sisson presents a fun, easy-to-follow, practical guidebook to help you "get Primal" in only 21 days. First, you'll learn eight key concepts that represent the most important day-to-day elements of living Primally, then tackle five action items that will enable you to literally reprogram your genes toward a long, healthy, and energetic life. The action items are presented in a fun and life-transforming 21-Day Challenge, featuring daily diet, exercise, and lifestyle endeavors with corresponding journal exercises.

You'll transition out of the regimented, carb-dependent, fat-storing Standard American Diet (SAD), the chronic, overly-stressful exercise patterns recommended by conventional wisdom, and other health-compromising elements of hectic modern life. Instead, you'll smoothly implement the evolution-tested lifestyle behaviors of our hunter-gatherer ancestors to promote optimal gene expression. By eating primally, you'll transform from a "sugar-burner" into a Sisson's so-called "fat burning beast", where stored body fat becomes your preferred fuel choice, and energy, hormone, metabolic, and immune function are optimized automatically. With an intuitive mix of Primal workouts, you'll get exceptionally fit in only a few hours per week - and have fun while you're at it!

Mind shift needed for this Great Book

Everything I thought I new about food as a pro cyclist is now out the window. This book will be life and game changing. I recommend everyone listen to it.

Now I am angry

It's not Audible's fault. Mark Sisson wrote 3 books that are nearly identical. This was a total waste of money. Just read the Primal Blueprint, don't waste your time on the other two books.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

What would have made The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation better?

A PDF with the 21 day plan which is why I purchased the book

Would you ever listen to anything by Mark Sisson again?

Yes. I like the primal plan. This audio book was useless.

What didn’t you like about Stephen Schlepmo’s performance?

It was fine but referenced "the print book" for details of the program

Any additional comments?

I purchased the 21 day Primal Plan and just finished it this morning. All of the details of the plan, the meal plan, the exercise descriptions, lists and pictures are referenced as "in the print book". This was totally useless. What a waste of money.

A Summary

I've read the Primal Blueprint, as well, by the same author and narrator. This book is much of the same information, but is more of a summary. I use it for quick reference. It condensed the data from the Primal Blueprint into a rundown of the most important information and provided a straight-forward listing of action items to get started on resetting the body to be fat adapted. It just as good as the Primal Blueprint, it's just in a more condensed format. Both books are equally important, but have different uses. For a detailled scientific study on Mark's primal concepts, read the Primal Blueprint. For a more straightforward guide, quick reference, or primer to the lifestyle, read The 21 Day Total Body Transformation.

need the transcript

I own this audio book and the actual print copy. they make the text available for download from the website which is awesome. Given that this is a Hands-On application book and not just Theory, you really do need the text to read through study take notes and apply. The audio version is a great supplement to listen to in your spare time or when driving to keep yourself on track, but I can't imagine following this program with the audiobook only.

Please redo with a new narrator.

The book was great and full of useful knowledge, but the narration was unbearable. The author as narrator would be a vast improvement.

Very interesting.

Wish there was a visual component for the action items, the food hierarchy especially. Blah.

Great book!.....A less intense Paleo option!

I am a big fan of Mark Sisson's work. It is definitely advocating the paleo lifestyle however Mark is great about reminding the reader/listener to enjoy life as well.

It works!

Yep, it works, and easy to follow. I have been looking for a weight loss program for a long time, now the primal way is the only way.
