About this listen

The Plus One [n] informal a person who accompanies an invited person to a wedding or a reminder of being single, alone and absolutely plus none

Polly’s not looking for ‘the one’, just the plus one

Polly Spencer is fine. She’s single, turning thirty and only managed to have sex twice last year (both times with a Swedish banker called Fred), but seriously, she’s fine. Even if she’s still stuck at Posh! magazine writing about royal babies and the chances of finding a plus one to her best friend’s summer wedding are looking worryingly slim.

But it’s a New Year, a new leaf and all that. Polly’s determined that over the next 365 days she’ll remember to shave her legs, drink less wine and generally get her s**t together. Her latest piece is on the infamous Jasper, Marquess of Milton, undoubtedly neither a plus one nor ‘the one’. She’s heard the stories, there’s no way she’ll succumb to his charms…

Entertaining but predictable. Not as hilarious as reported but still a good listen. I thought the sex was ordinary.

Brigitte Jones Diary meets My Best Friends Wedding meets 50 Shades of Grey.

The further the story got, the more annoying the overly clipped quick voice became. It started well enough, however, became cringe worthy with the 50 shades of sex play and alcohol from self indulged shallow people. Was glad to hear the end of it ...

Frivolous chic lit delivered with a posh voice

Enjoyed this story. Some aspects of the story could have been developed more and it didn’t quite turn out the way I expected but overall enjoyable

I persevered through this because I had no other books on the go. It just felt like a rush from start to finish. Average all round.

I felt like the narrator was in a race to get to the end of the book

A Funny, well written story about that type of girl we’ve all met or had in our lives, who overthinks, doesn’t think and sometimes can’t see the forest for the trees when it comes to men

An all round nice story
