In the spring of 1685, Lord Hugo Everly, ardent supporter of the Protestant upstart the Duke of Monmouth, vanishes without a trace just before the Monmouth Rebellion, leaving future generations forever baffled as to what might have become of him.

In 2013, while visiting Everly Manor as part of her job as a location scout for a film production company, Neve Ashley stumbles onto a secret passage that leads her into the 17th century and straight into the path of the ill-fated lord. Neve is able to return safely to her own time, but she can't forget the man she met or the fate that's about to befall him. Against her better judgment, Neve decides to go back and warn Hugo of impending danger, not realizing that she's walking into danger herself, for history is never straightforward, and people's motives not always what they appear to be. Taken hostage by the very man she was trying to save, Neve is trapped in the 17th century, her fate now intertwined with that of her captor, and the future something that neither one of them could have envisioned.

I wholeheartedly agree with Kayla's 5 star review of The Passage (18 SEPT 2021) and couldn't have appraised or sung it's praises any better. Wow. What an engaging and addictive story. I was hooked from the start. I love the Neve/Hugh romance, and am invested in the other characters and eager to learn of their impact on Neve & Hugh's lives throughout the series.
The narration is perfection. Both the characterisations and the storytelling is complementary and elevated my listening enjoyment. I highly recommend.

This is a Time Travel Adventure Romance to my liking! The plot is believable with unpredictable twists and turns, the characters are enfolding their depth along the story an the writing is fluent and draws you in. The history is well researched and I like that the heroes experience the past & the future and how they bridge their temporal, cultural & technological differences. It is very close to reality if this would ever happen.. The author outdone herself with this one. The narration is spot on.

Unlike the Outlander series this book wasn’t very well researched, eg there weren’t any gargoyles on Notre Dame de Paris in the 17th century. They were only added during a renovation in the 19th century! It seems like a cheap knock-off.
Also, English accent attempted by an American was very annoying. For most of the book she forgot that she was supposed to drag her o’s, then all of a sudden remembered again. Last time I checked the English say A to Z, not A to C; herbs, not erbs; tomah-to, not tomato (like potato). Even passage was incorrectly pronounced. This was really odd-putting and I was seriously considering not to continue listening.
