Publisher's Summary
Set 10 years after the events in Prince of the Blood, this book is a remarkable adventure of mystery and magic.
In Amos Trask's ship, Prince Nicholas and Squire Harry set sail for a friendly visit to Uncle Martin in Crydee.
But while the two are guests in Crydee, disaster strikes.
Nicholas, third son of Prince Arutha, is a gifted youngster, but sheltered by life at his father's court in Krondor. To learn more of the world outside the palace walls, Nicholas and his squire, Harry, set sail for pastoral Crydee, where Arutha grew up.
Shortly after their arrival, Crydee is brutally attacked. The castle is reduced to ruins, the townspeople slaughtered and two young noblewomen - friends of Nicholas - are abducted. As Nicholas ventures further from the familiar landmarks of his home in pursuit of the invaders, he learns that there is more at stake than the fate of his friends, more even than fate of the Kingdom of the Isles, for behind the murderous pirates stands a force that threatens the entire world of Midkemia, and only he is destined to confront this terrifying threat.

I love this series. The fact that's so far it's been the same narrator the whole way through makes it spectacular, the characters in this book are all familiar but getting older, the new ones are fresh and young Nicholas has a fantastic story arc, I'm so happy to have finished this and onto the next!

Couldn’t put it down!
Such a great story, with lots of action that often had me sitting on the edge of my seat. A few amusing moments that had me laughing out loud and other griping moments that had me pausing with anguish.
I have to admit, Peter Joyce doesn’t do a fabulous woman’s voice... to start with, it was actually cringe worthy. However, he made up for that with the rest of his captivating narrative.

Amazing Story. Terrible Narrator
Raymond E Feist books are legendary and magnificent. The original Narrator they used for Magician not from Harper Audio was amazing, however Peter Joyce makes the top 10 of worst narrators on audible. Accents are shocking with men sounding like screeching women, he cant pronounce word properly using his own take on names, and overall just a very bad performance.
As for the story .. amazing, amazing, amazing .. but narrator spoils it sadly.

Another fantastic tale
Another super yarn from the pen of Feist with Peter Joyce's excellent portrayal of the cast of characters.
Best read in order of sequence in the Pug/Magician books, but at a minimum, read the first trilogy starting with 'Magician, otherwise references to certain characters will mean diddly squat!
This book is set mainly at sea and on the antipodean continent of Novindus, giving it fresh perspective and detail from previous books. The never ending story telling skills of Feist, along with his ability to describe objects, people and events while keeping my interest is something special.
I really enjoyed this book, but I have enjoyed every one in the Midcamia saga so far, so I AM biased. I got a refund on one book with a different American narrator........AWFULL!! Stick with Peter Joyce narrated stories.
I'll be buying another one with my next credit.
I've purposely avoided talking about the actual story line of this book so as not to spoil it for others who com after me. You'll have to trust me . 😇

Great story, deep rich world and characters that suck you in. Literally the only thing I wasn't mad about was that he killed off a lot of old beloved characters from the earlier books with barely a mention. The reader is fantastic, his voices and acting bring the characters to life! Highly recommended!

Swashbuckling fun
This being My least favorite story arc of the medkimia world when I read it some years ago, I was a little surprised by how much I enjoyed the reading of it. The story itself is a good one, with some new characters and some old ones an a good adventure to a different land within the world of medkimia.
The narrator Peter Joyce does an excellent job as per usual of bringing the characters to life and his reading is fun as well as engaging.
Would recommend it,

Great Read
Having been an avid fan of Mr Fiest for many years I simply didn’t get around to reading “The Kings Buccaneer”, Peter Joyce is a pleasure to listen to but I found the book a little bit lacking, I think the character building is beautifully done, but I got bored in the middle of the story and I found I was only listening for the sake of getting to the end of the book. I will move onto the “Serpentwar saga” next as, even if this book was a little off, it hasn’t changed my opinion of Mr Fiests talents.
