Publisher's Summary

Young Australian artist Mia Moretti has been cancer free for nine months. But her battle with the illness has taken its toll, leaving her depressed and tormented by overwhelming fears. What's more, she can't seem to paint anymore. Mia needs a fresh start so when a surprise opportunity to travel to Tuscany presents itself, she takes it. With any luck, this trip will help her find whatever it is she needs to open her heart and start painting again.

What she doesn't count on is meeting Luca, a handsome Italian mechanic. With his smile, his warmth and his inspirational outlook on all the good things life has to offer, he sweeps her off her feet. As Mia slowly lets down her walls and allows Luca in, her passion for life is reignited and her new perspective begins to inspire her art. But just when she's ready to let go of her past, will a tragedy threaten her new life with Luca?

Full of heart and hope, a love story about la dolce vita in Tuscany.

Terrible narration

I enjoyed the story, except I felt the narration was terrible, very very bad accents.

Lovely story but irritating audio

The story is absolutely captivating, although the romance between Luca and Mia is far too sickly sweet and over the top. It made me wait for something to go wrong, as you just cannot continue in such a bubble of perfection forever. I must confess that I’m only two thirds of the way through it right now, and the first hints of that disaster have now happened.

However, what really, really, really irritates me is the narrator. Her Australian accent is appalling. She sounds like a bogan trying to sound cultured. I suspect the narrator is not actually Australian and is trying very hard to sound like one. She sounds more like a New Zealander putting on an Australian accent and it is awful. The other accents are not so bad, but Mia’s voice is grating.

I would have purchased this book on Kindle but it is not available in that format in the Australian store, so I had no choice but to buy this version as I have loved Vanessa Carnevale’s books so far and wanted to read it.

I did finish this book a day or so after I wrote this review. The book ended more or less the way that I expected, although I would as usual love to have seen an epilogue based a few years later to see how they ended up.
