Good information on the menstrual cycle

This audio book is well narrated, has good information on understanding the menstrual cycle. The only thing that would add to it is some further scientific fact checking with some of the later recommendations (such as vaginal steaming). Not discrediting the overall discussion, but I did find the later recommendations steered away from research and leaned strongly into anecdotal information (castor oil applied topically, with no reference to studies of results or if the results are from heat rather than the oil).

Eye opening

It makes me angry but glad there is a conversation happening about menstruating I didn’t know I could have.

I’d recommend this book to any woman with -or without period or fertility issues.
GP’s would also be well served by this book.

Every woman needs to read this!

I had so many ‘ah ha!’ Moments while reading. There were also moments that made me angry - but not at the book, at the fact that I (as a 30 year old woman) didn’t already know.
I have learned so much and will be listening to it again when I need a refresher on the fertility side of things.

My advice? Read the first half and skip the second.

This book begins with some useful information about women’s reproductive systems, menstrual cycles and how they are affected by hormonal contraceptives, and a basic overview of the fertility awareness method. Following this, it provides a lot of questionable life and health advice based on personal opinion and pseudoscience. The information in the second half of the book made me question the validity of the medical knowledge and research presented in the first half of the book. Despite its controversial content, the author’s narration makes this book an easy read. In summary, this book offers some interesting ideas for women to think about (and research further), but I would not recommend it to others.
