Critic Reviews

I was enticed from the first line (Oyinkan Braithwaite, author of My Sister, the Serial Killer)
An outstanding debut... Violent, smart, gruesome and wildly original
Darkly funny (Fern Brady, author of Strong Female Character)
Visceral, disgusting, glorious. I love this book and every character in it. Monika Kim's sentences are superb, and I was riveted and nauseated from the very first page (CJ Leede, author of Maeve Fly)
An inventive, terrifying tale of misogyny, Asian fetishisation, and cannibalism
Obsessive, grotesque and never predictable, this is a horror debut to sink your teeth into (Emily M. Danforth, author of The Miseducation of Cameron Post)
Smartly written...A fun and nasty debut with real edge to it. A promising calling card from a writer to watch
Utterly fantastic, female revenge horror at its finest. Perfect for readers of Tender is the Flesh
Monika Kim has written a novel that every library needs to own
A new voice in horror... Gripping
Incredibly readable... Kim has delivered an entertaining and gruesome romp on female rage

I like the whole book. I did not dislike any part. Maybe sometimes the Korean accent wasn’t perfect but that is minor.

Crazy plot twist. Very Margaret Atwood. I loved every bit of this story.

You know what? I loved it. I was rooting for her. It was disgusting, and the explanation at the end didn't quite make sense/felt Too Convenient BUT I'm willing to overlook that by just how damn good everything else was. Wanna read a book that'll make you feel things (in a physical, throw-y up-y way) and be constantly questioning what's real? This is the one for you.

Deliciously Grotesque

The protagonist was making some outrageous choices but her motives were so clear it was strangely relatable. A great book~

Strangely relateable
