Time is running out for Ahren as he and Khara leave their companions under cover of darkness and make their way to the Eternal Empire. Loved this book, especially Khara’s character development, with two particularly impressive scenes in the pool and at the markets. Gildart continues to embellish the story with with brilliant narration. 😁

Great listen but some of the characters haven't grown and have little squabbles and confront each other in the same ways that they did from book one. I don't see much growth from Faulk and Aldini or the Elf which was frustrating to listen to as they repeat their bad behaviour. BUT, I love the saga and hope these elements are minimised in the next volume.

The largest part of this book follows a bit of a different approach to the previous books, but blends nicely. The is a smooth fit with those that came before whilst still offering something new. Looking forward to the next installment.
