About this listen

Ahren and his companions journey on to Evergreen, finding new courage after the traumas of the Green Sea. Setting off, then, to traverse the continent in search of the missing Paladin Yollock, it isn't long before they find themselves sucked into a maelstrom of adventures involving a woman who has been robbed, a desperate Cape Verstaad grandee, not to mention a cutthroat city which proves itself a veritable nest of ne'er-do-wells. Controlled by the brilliant assassin Reik Silvermantle, this hub of lawlessness and immorality presents Ahren and his friends with one of their greatest challenges . . .

I didn’t like the reader, changing readers during a series losses the sense of knowing the characters.

This was the least favourite of the books

The narration. Not enough distinction in character’s voices. Wishy washy voice of narrator. These are paladins and warriors and magicians and kings and queens. Not someone’s grandmother!

The unsuitable change of narrator

I much prefer Gildart Jackson. Words in this recording are pronounced differently to all the other ones (and inconsistently) which was frustrating to hear. Storyline is good and a key part of the series so worth persevering.

Narrator didn’t do it justice.

Great story but narrator on this one hasn't done the job as well as Gildart. It took most of the story to associate the character voices to the other books in the series. And names not being the same pronunciation.

Also the bass rattled every sound system I played this on. I had to adjust the settings in my car and eq on my headphones to understand him.

I wish they would rerecord this with Gildart Jackson like the rest of the series for future listeners. I struggled through this one to continue the series and would hate for people to stop just because of the narrator of this book.

Different narrator to the rest of the series and too much bass in voice

The story was captivating and I thoroughly enjoyed it once it got going. it took significant adjustment to get used to an alternate narrator. When a world is built with consistency, and to have a new voice shatter it was very jarring. that being said, I believe the narrator is getting a bit to much negative feedback. once I got used to it, it was fluid and easy and the story took over again.

Very much enjoyed the City of Cut Throats

An adjustment....
