please read and really have a think!

I wish U come and met me, because Ur not right with everyone.
U keep talking about brain chemistry.
then we need to get the right doses before exercise.
I need Large amounts lithium, dopamine, quortazol,and have ADHD.
when I was medication. I lived, not just existed. I was so happy.

I can't do anything, I have nothing, I'm as stupid and doppy. forgetful. but I've come to terms with not being who i
used to be . U make me frustrated.

how do U exercise when Ur a walking fog, without walking into a walk or passing out.
I eat so healthy!!!! how can I relax? my mind won't leave me alone.

U have NO idea how people with mental health issues really struggle!
in Australia doctor hardly prescribe medicine, my 12 yr old son, knows how i am. I'm 37 and I believe something bad will happen to me so.

it way will not help me, I have tried.
were is Ur support for us people who have these same things, because medication if what is needed, then I know, this person who lives inside my brain will leave and me, this happy, energetic, strong, woman will return.
if only I could be as lucky as u people from us, because I'd get the medication I need.

please read more into my story, because, I knew U were talking about me, then U didn't speak about others like me..... I'm not the only one.

Full of misinformation

book is full of misinformation disguised as 'evidence'. I feel information provided is misleading and can do more harm than good.. not recommended at all

Some good tips but some big problems

This book does have some things to offer. The main points are good guides - exercise, sufficient sleep, nutrition, less sugar and more meditation are all great ways to reduce brainfog.

However, there are a few key problems. First and foremost, many of the points lack sufficient evidence since the data lacks context. Some things the author positions as certain do NOT have the evidence behind it. Secondly, the author sounds melodramatic and preachy.

Here are two examples of many instances in this book where the author does not provide clarify in his evidence. Firstly, he says that it’s found that people who drink Diet soft drinks tend to be fatter than those who drink soft drinks with regular sugar. He does this to emphasise the point that artificial sweeteners aren’t good for you. However, what if it’s because those people are overweight to begin with and they choose to drink diet drinks because of it? In that case, artificial sweeteners may not be the cause but just a correlation. I can’t know if this is true or not with the information provided, so remain unconvinced either way. The author could have avoided this. How many people are in these studies? Did they control for other factors? What are the motives of people choosing these drinks?

A second example “the number of people with Alzheimers in the USA is currently X, but in Y years is predicted to be Z”. The author accompanies this by saying it’s becoming more common, however I am not sure if this is true, since there is no context given. Are these numbers higher since it’s just our ageing population? Or is the rate within the group of older people higher? I can’t know since the author hasn’t given me a percentage or additional context.

The author sounded over dramatic at times and foreboding. I understand that books are for entertainment purposes as well as information, however he would have been more convincing if his evidence was clearer. “Do you really want to take that risk?” after providing limited evidence for something seems foreboding.

I’d say don’t bother spending time on this book, and if the author sees this - please consider writing a second edition outlining the evidence more clearly and considering correlation/causation and context when gathering and displaying data.

I’m not sure if there’s a reference list of the studies he used but am trying to find it. It would help me check facts and find my own conclusions.

Life changing

This book found me at the right time. I was struggling with my mental health and learning that my dad has Alzheimer’s disease with dementia. This book helped me understand some of the habits and behaviours that can lead to dementia. It gives advice on how to eat better and improve your lifestyle to feel sharper and more awake to life. Highly recommended

Too many inconsistencies...

I love health books like this, and at first, it seemed pretty great. Wonderfully narrated, written with easy-to-understand explanations, and (mostly) scientifically sound. Even though I know most of the content discussed in this book, I enjoy listening to anything that helps motivate me to take better care of my body and my brain. But right from the get-go there were inconsistencies that left me scratching my head. In one sentence, the author tells us that we shouldn't eat albacore tuna because of the high mercury content, and that a good/easy rule of thumb is to stay away from farmed fish and go primarily with wild-caught. But then when he begins listing out the top fish that we should always be incorporating into our diets on a regular basis, that list contains albacore tuna (at the top of the list) and several farmed fish. That left me scratching my head and feeling uncertain about the message of this book. Granted, it's a small piece of it, but when that red flag goes up and flashing lights cause me to pause in confusion, I have a hard time getting back into it. The book is excellent for someone who is unfamiliar with the latest studies about good fats, low glycemic foods and eating healthy for gut and brain health. But if you've already got a fair amount of knowledge under your belt and are looking for some in-depth, solid information based on scientific studies and unquestionable research, this probably isn't the book for you.

Interesting Recipes

Covers the subject of healthy eating and living in a consumable format. Includes interesting recipes.

May seem like a stats book at times i.e. x % of this and y % of that, but overall contains a lot of helpful information for daily changes.

Worth reading / listening.

Repetitive and boring

It gets very repetitive real soon.
There's like 15 chapters that could fit in 1. And then when you finally get to the point, it gives you too many info that is impossible to remember

Boring and annoying

I’m over 90 minutes in. Every example is obvious - “hey, don’t drink 10 diet Cokes and very day! That’s bad for you!”

I have no idea why he needs 15 chapters to explain what the book is about. I live here on earth; I am well aware that sugar is a huge problem. I know. But I eat little sugar. So shut up about it already.

Very informative book. The info about turmeric and black pepper is wonderful. I started taking turmeric for my knee and it sure works well.

Lacks sufficient appendices

Overall this is a well written and helpful book with some minor repetitiveness. The appendices are not all that helpful as they are referred to in the book but they are not useable without going back to the book and that is hard to do in an audible. I plan on going to look at a book to see if it is more user friendly. I am glad that I listened to it and eager to follow more of his writing.

Doesn't work in audio format

This book spends several hours building up to a 3 week, day by day eating plan, which promises to help you clear your brain fog. When it eventually gets there, the chapter is 70+ minutes of repetition, which you're unlikely to remember in one go. To reference the plan you'll either need to save many bookmarks in the chapter, or write/type out the information. Either way it will take you some time. The book comes with a pdf download, in which the plan could have been included. Whatever the reason for not doing this, it was a big oversight.

The information in this book is interesting, although the author cites a lot of studies, again none of which can be referenced in audio format without killing the flow of the book.

This is possibly the only one of my 200 audio books that doesn't work in this format. Save your money and buy the paper or e - version.

Couldnt get over some of the statements

Basically advocating sufficient sleep and low sugar diet. His view on T3DM is not in keeping with diabetes uk, but I concede has been used. Not really a practical plan

Good book as reminder of a lot of things .

I did like this book but will not say it is my favourite. I like it mostly because it did remind me about pieces that are important this days .

What I did not like is last two chapters , they should be added as part of the pdf rather than read .

Made it less than 10 minutes

Possibly an unfair review. Sorry but there is already so much repetition of key words and phrases, and the author is now steering into anti-medication territory that I don’t think this book is for me. It’s also more like a healthy eating advice book so far but hey, I’ve only given it less than 10 minutes. Lovely voice though.

This is a diet.

Don’t let it fool you. This may appear to be about brain fog but he is trying to get you to cut out all sugar and white flour….. this seems like it would just case so many other problems!!!

Unoriginal

Ok, but nothing very new. Diet advice, with A LOT of product placement. Basic CBT, followed by mish-mash of spiritual practice and pop psychology. Guaranteed to make you even more self-obsessed and annoyingly to others.

Boring and not helpful!

A long tirade about how bad flour and shugger is! Lots of unnecessary information, given in complicated percentages and figures. It's very rare that I don't finish an audio book, but this is oneif them!
