The wit in this book is just signature Jilly, and had me laughing out loud often! Absolutely fantastic!

Having read and enjoyed every one of the Rutshire Chronicles, I was left disappointed with this one. It seemed shorter than the others, but that may have because of the narration. The narration was terribly rushed, making it very hard to absorb the story - it easily even worse when the narrator “did the voices” (which I usually appreciate to help differentiate between the characters) coupled with their own accent, mimicking accents and rushing the story - it just made it hard to hear what the lines were.
I have always re-read (or re-listened) the books of the Rutshire Chronicles because I loved them - this time I will have to do it simply so I can actually understand the story. The narrator really took away from the enjoyment unfortunately

I have read every Rupert Campbell Black novel. I am thrilled to say the latest addition “Tackle” has again captured the reader who goes on the ride of highs and lows with Rupert and his family.

Thrilled to see Jilly is still writing. I’m not sure football is quite her thing though. The club’s meteoric rise and some of those match scores were not realistic.

Still, this book has Jilly’s stamp all over it. Although not as in depth as Rivals or Appassionata in taking the reader into another world, Tackle has a few twists and turns to keep you entertained.

Wonderful to see the return of RCB and darling Taggie!

So very disappointed with Jilly Cooper this time round. I’ve always got a bit of a giggle with her characters, but this time I found them to be boring, unpredictable and repetitive.

RCB has transformed into a domesticated and honourable hero. Good for him. And good old Taggie., who is fighting cancer but still juggling the lives of her dysfunctional family.

There is far too much dialogue recorded. Voices are high pitched and quite unbelievable (especially when you consider they are meant to portray professional sporting personnel).

So very very disappointed.
