هل يُعقل أن تكون هناك علاقة شائكة وغامضة بين الكاتب وشخصيات رواياته؟! كيف ينظر الكاتب إلى شخصية خلقها وصنع لها حياةً كاملة؟ هل ينساها حين ينتهي من الرواية وينغمس في رواية جديدة وخلق شخصيات جديدة، أم يتذكرها؟ هل يحق له أن يعود إلى روايته بعد صدورها ويغيّر مصير بطلها، أم أن النص لا يعود ملكاً له، ويصبح بعد نشره ملكاً للقارئ؟

هذا ما تناقشه رواية "زهرة عباد الشمس" والتي تُعتبر واحدة من أغرب الروايات الحديثة، ربّما هذا ما جعلها تفوز بعدّة جوائز على الرّغم من كونها العمل الأول لكاتبها.

تبدأ الرواية بمكالمة هاتفية من أسامة المخرج لنديم الكاتب الروائي ، يطلبه عاجلا... في المقهى يطلب منه المخرج الذي يصور فيلما مقتبسا من روايته الجديدة طلباً في غاية الجنون، وهو أن يعيد كتابة سيناريو جديد لكن بمحو شخصية "عزازير" أو بجعل دوره هامشياً بدعوى ابتزاز الممثل الذي يتقمص شخصيته !!

وبعد إغرائه بالمال وصراع نفسي يذعن نديم ويقبل بتنفيذ المطلوب بالرغم من العلاقة الروحية التي تربطه بشخصية "عزازير" لكن بعده الإذعان للمخرج تحدث أشياء غريبة وعجائبية تأخذ الرواية في منحى بوليسي فانتازي مدهش!!
