Story
My name is Nate Temple, and I’m secretly a wizard. I ride a foul-mouthed unicorn, I drink with Achilles, and I’m pals with the Four Horsemen. I’ve even cow-tipped the Minotaur. I understand the theory of following the rules...I’m just not very good at the application. Because rules were meant to be broken, and St. Louis has a bit of a supernatural infestation these days. Someone should probably be keeping an eye on these things -and probably an eye on me, too. Before I blow up another building...or three.

Despite his recent victories, Nate Temple’s problems are only just beginning. Although it had been necessary, killing the most infamous of the Norse gods has consequences, and no one knows petty vengeance like the Aesir. Especially with Odin’s legendary spear mysteriously missing. But Nate has more important things to worry about than a pantheon of angry gods. Because the God of Mischief has been freed from his imprisonment, and so has his monstrosity of a son - a creature prophesied to play a major role in Ragnarok.

Slaughter is the best medicine. Callie Penrose is back to murder vampires and chew bubblegum. And she’s all out of bubblegum. Callie has had a rough few days. Five minutes after discovering she had a Godfather, she learned that the future of the world depended on the two of them taking an immediate road trip. To Castle Dracula - a place even the supernatural community believed to be an urban myth, dead and abandoned long ago when Dracula had perished at the hands of Van Helsing, Mina, and Jonathan Harker. Except...Dracula and his castle were alive and well.
Publisher's Summary
At the edge of chaos, one geek stands tall.
Five years ago, dateless dork Bill Ryder somehow saved the world, banishing magic and monsters to the shadows. He thought it was over, that he was finished with that life. Too bad for him, shit’s about to get surreal again.
Now the impossible has happened. His goddaughter is conjuring fireballs from thin air and two vampires have shown up at his doorstep looking to kick his ass.
A crazed group of ex-wizards are hell-bent on forcing the door between worlds open, intent on letting the nightmares back in, and only Bill and his friends stand in their way.
Join him in this hilarious tale of a world teetering on the brink of anarchy and the unlikely hero who’s not afraid to look the madness in the eye and flip it both fingers.

Just what I've been waiting for! More Bill!
I had no idea this was in the works. I finished the Tome of Bill series a few years ago and loved it! I was just looking at other works by my favorite authors and found a new Bill the vampire series! Please keep them coming!
I think you should read the Tome of Bill series first before this one so you'll know the characters but either way its a great new addition to the Bill the vampire universe. Highly recommended!

Did not disappoint!
When the Tome of Bill series ended, I was disappointed. Not in the series but that I wanted more like an addict looking for his next fix. When Strange Days released, i wasn’t sure how the story was going to be continued knowing how the previous setup ended. I was not disappointed, keep up the good work Rick!

Weakest of the Bill books, IMHO
So, the basic storyline is decent, but the devil is in the details. To put it bluntly: the character Tom is even more of an obnoxious imbecile than in previous books, and he’s in this one A LOT. It literally ruined the story for me. It makes absolutely no sense why this guy would be so dear to main characters Kristy or Bill (especially Kristy), yet that devotion is a driving motivation for quite a lot of this story’s plot. It’s just not believable.
The second major issue is that a big “reveal” at the end of the story, is absolutely transparent from the first chapter onwards. The foreshadowing is terribly heavy-handed.
Finally, though I’ve enjoyed the Christopher John Featherolf’s narration for all the previous books ... this was definitely not his best work. Two or three of the male characters were hard to differentiate, and the voice for Kristy was just plain weird, sounded like a kid with a cold the whole time. He did, however, do a great job voicing Glenn and Gan.
I’ll still read the forthcoming sequels, but dear god PLEASE let Tom die, or grow a few brain cells. Please?
