Publisher's Summary

Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father’s business rival, a powerful, vicious man who takes what he wants and bows to no one. I only took the meeting because I was curious. I thought he was going to offer me a job.

But that's not what he's after at all. His proposal is much more intriguing, and I see an opportunity. An opportunity to turn the tables and bring down the devil.

I've gotten in trouble playing these games before. I know when the risk is too great, when the stakes are too high. I know how to be cold and strong-willed and destructive. I know how to withstand dominant men with arrogant charm and rugged features.

Yet, I can't resist taking on Edward.

And I can't resist the pull he has on me.

Soon I'm not so sure which side of the battle I'm standing on - if I'm the warrior meant to slay...

Or the one who will be slain.

Slay is book one in New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best-selling author Laurelin Paige's next dark and edgy series.

Outstanding Tempo, Angsts, Sexual Tension

Fantastic first book in this series as we get acquainted with Celia and Edward...Dang I was cussing out-loud as this was ending since I knew it was a cliffhanger but dang I couldn’t have seen that coming regardless! Wow just wow...all the way though your are hooked in early and whisked along at a pace you will both love and hate all at once. It’s storytelling at its finest along with BESTIN CLASS NARRATION by ELANA WOLFE! Do Not wait to listen! You won’t be sorry I promise! So so sooo Fun! Wear your seatbelt! Enjoy the ride....

It was nothing less than expected!

Laurelyn Paige is such an amazing storyteller and this story does not disappoint. It is a master class in pace, in character development, in playing with motivation and in chemistry. She is very bold in giving us the story of a character that is so hated and despised because of her manipulative nature and now seeing her being set up with an adversary equal to her is quite a ride. I loved how we are shown Celia's layers crumble, how by being inside her head we are shown how she thinks and hopefully we get to see more of that as the story develops. Elena Wolfe, as always, is just pure perfection. There is nothing I did not enjoy of this audio. Waiting for the next one will be torture!

Warning this is only Part 1 of 4

Fans of Hudson and Alaina now have a glimpse of how mean girl/game player Celia meets and marries a bigger game player- Edward Fasbender. In Fixed Forever we got a glimpse of the pair but this is the beginning of their story. Too bad we have to wait several months for the next book. There is very little plot in this book but we get more of a clue about why Celia is so closed off and hints about Edwards past. Not very consistent with the previous scheming Celia from earlier books when closes her business, she zips off to London to chase Edward, and the decided to put up with Edward’s demands to marry him. He would have been dense not to be suspicious but the ‘cliffhanger’ was ridiculous.
Elena Wolfe (Andi Arndt) is a terrific narrator but it would have been really helpful to have also had a male narrator. Really wish this story could be told in 2 longer books instead of 4 shorter ones.

Intense Mind Games!

Slay-Rivalry, was an amazing intense, sexy, well written book 1 from Laurelin. I loved the narrator voice as she narrated all the characters voices. She did an amazing job! I loved this story of Celia! Edward is her latest player in her mind games but, his no easy opponent. He will make her play with all she has and in the end, maybe coming out losing everything. This book does end in a cliffhanger!! “Slay Rivalry” is a must read! I can’t wait for the next book!

What's with these needy women?

She's so bored that for kicks and giggles moves cities to carry out a game?! Then she attempts to please him and her dad and is surprised that it comes off as a total failure!!! God save me from this level of retardedness.

Worth the purchase

I can say this was refreshing to what I usually read. It was different and yet very interesting. Celia & Edward obviously have reasons for being individually disturbed but they feel the heat between them. But the cliffhanger is jaw dropping because I didn’t expect that. This is one turning page after another wanting to know what will happen next. I just can’t wait for the next installment. The narrator did an excellent job and you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

Well written for Celia

The story how she ended up with Edward is interesting to say the lrast. The manipulation is on Edward's side. Celia have met her match. Not quite going on the direction i thought it would but maybe book two will show. In Hudson she had her own child and appeared happy, we will see

Compelling

This story pulls you in from the start and it’s great to get some insight into Celia and her motivations. Who knew she could be such a sympathetic character? Only wish we could know what Edward’s motivation is... apart from being crazy about her. Only downside is the dodgy British accent and will American writers realise one day that Brits do not use the term gotten!!!
