About this listen

Montgavin Township will never be the same when one night changes the lives of six people.

The course of their lives and the trajectory of the town sets them on a collision course for disaster.

Charlie

It was supposed to be a regular day out.

Three couples celebrating the last days of summer.

When tragedy struck.

I thought I was going to marry her.

Instead, I was burying her.

I blamed the world for my pain.

I buried it all.

I became a man I didn’t even recognize.

Autumn

In a blink of an eye, everything changed.

My best friend was gone, and I was responsible for it.

I may not have been driving the truck, but I didn’t stop it.

Escaping the town was the only thing I could do to survive the guilt.

I thought I was strong enough to go back.

I was wrong.

One look from him and I knew I wasn’t welcome.

But this is my home, and I wanted to come back.

One night turned into more. But at the end of the day, I know he’ll never love me.

Besides, we all have shattered dreams.

the narrators of this book did an amazing job. They were perfect and I enjoyed how they bought the story to life.

emotional rollercoaster

Not as emotional as I thought. I thought this would rip my heart out.
I was a little frustrated with the blame game and wish we had seen Autumns last moments with her dad.

Sweet

The opening few chapters really grab you, the pain and angst. Then we go into the long suffering both MCs have been through in the following years.
It was weird to have Charlie go from hating autumn so much, being so horrible to her, to loving her? That change happened so quick I felt like I had missed something.
The book built the surrounding characters well, so you could see whose story was coming.
Yes, it was predictable and bit mushy, but that seemed to be what you get with these types of stories. For me, I won’t be rushing into the next one.

the first few chapters absolutely hooked me and natasha madison is definition get to be a go to author for me in 2025. it was so heavy, it definitely didn't show away from grief and abuse. i think the only thing holding it back from an at least a 4 star, is the relationship between autumn and charlie at the start was a bit much for me. i don't like it when someone's "truth" and pain is the only thing they can see, autumn was struggling and had her own story that he wasn't willing to see. then we turned to spice very quickly which meant that the chemistry felt underdeveloped and rushed. the winner for me was the growth Charlie went through, he was redeemed but the main winner was autumns journey and her family.

great start and want more
