I found this series to be touching, as it is very emotive and you are captivated by the details of the stories being told, but also by the openness of the session attendees.
The empathy delivered by the host, along with the emotional prodosy of both the host and the people in the sessions adds to the performance quality significantly. This invites you to feel intimately involved with the stories, and you gain a genuine inquisitive feel (always wanting to know more or get that extra information that is alluded to).
The hosts voice is soothing but strong, delivered professionally but with personal undertones and the quality of the audio is 10/10 (can definitely appreciate the quality of the audio equipment used by the host and people in the sessions).
The topics themselves are expansive, but also cover, and are attributed back to the focal topic (sex) well. There is a variety of stories, genders and experiences explored in this series, leading you to desire more, but leaving you satiated.
I have recommended this to friends, family and my wife and would suggest you do the same.

The book/podcast series stands out for its ability to tackle a diverse range of issues, including performance pressure, trust, self-pleasure, identity, and self-acceptance, in a way that is both educational and deeply human. Each episode provides a safe, non-judgmental space where participants—and by extension, listeners—are empowered to explore their truths and embrace their potential for sexual pleasure.
Otten’s expertise as a sexologist shines through in her compassionate and approachable style, making complex and sometimes uncomfortable conversations accessible and relatable. Her commitment to breaking down taboos and fostering open dialogue about sex is both inspiring and much needed.
While the podcast is undoubtedly enlightening, the format of edited, anonymous therapy sessions may leave some listeners wanting a deeper dive into certain topics or a follow-up on the individuals’ journeys. That said, the bite-sized episodes are perfect for those looking for accessible insights without feeling overwhelmed.
Overall, Sex Therapy: Sessions with Chantelle Otten is an empowering series that will leave you more informed, more connected, and more confident in exploring your own sexual health and relationships. A must-listen for anyone curious about the transformative power of sex therapy.
