Great story Separation of Power

Very entertaining and a great story but felt the narrator was very very poor,he seems to be very limited with his range of voices for his characters.

Dreadful reader spoilt this book.

I persisted with this book because it completes the story of the previous volume. But honestly ... this narrator is awful! Almost all the characters seem to be perpetually yelling at each other, and he made Mitch Rapp sound like a stupid whining little twerp! This one is perhaps a book better read than listened to.

Rapp does it again!

Loved the continuing adventures of Rapp but am majorly put off by his so called girlfriend. I found her extremely grating and just a tad bullying disguised as determination. The storyline was exciting and had lots of on the edge moments. Will definitely be reading the next one in hopes the girlfriend is no longer an item

Not his best

The narrator leaves a lot to be desired. His pronunciation of many words is terrible. Not just the American versions of words but his English and intonation are poor. The storyline is good but the author bores the reader with his over long and amateurish interactions between Mitch and Anna. Apart from that it is a good read.

An unfortunate step in the series

Besides being overly dramatic in content, Ken’s Reading was very poor and I was just glad to get to the end. Truly painful to listen to

Whiney Narrator

While the story line was to the usual high standard the narrator made all the characters sound like sniveling spineless individuals.

Not up to standard.

Boring and repetitive dialogue for the first two thirds.

Narration was almost unbearable. Emphasis inappropriate and almost no distinction between characters. A real let down after the preceding books in the series.

Another great story, but bad narrator.

What didn’t you like about Ken Kliban’s performance?

I love this series, but this narrator is terrible. The way he does the character voices of Mitch and Anna are horrible, as he always speaks in a clipped, high pitch, argumentative manner which is not how the characters talk to each other. It got to the stage where every time Mitch and Anna were together I'd cringe. Not sure if I can listen to any more books from this series if he is the narrator.

Narrator turns Rapp into a snooty, cranky man

This is the eleventh Vince Flynn book I've listened to, I saved it for last because of the poor reviews regarding the narrator. I couldn't finish it. He made all of the characters sound whiny, anxious and condescending including Mitch Rapp.
A snooty, anxious Rapp?!
Three years into my audible subscription this is only the second book I couldn't finish due to narration.
I'll get this installment on Rapp the old fashioned way I think, actual paper.

wasted money

I can't believe I am rating a Vince Flynn novel as one star but here it is. How sad. I have purchased this novel in paper but I hate to read, then I purchased it in an abridged format, YUK, and despite the reviews I was excited to get the entire thing read to me. NOT. This narrator is really bad. I can handle the narrative parts but when he does voices Mitch sounds like a whining 16 year old kid, Kennedy and all women sound the same, like old ladies. It is so bad it overpowers the excellence of this book. If this is your first audible purchase do not judge audible by this terrible production, it is rare to be this bad. To audible, either issue refunds or get this redone and offer to replace this fiasco. To Simon and Shuster audio, shame on you. This is really inexcusable.

Horrible Narration

I fell in love with the Mitch Rapp series and was thrill when these older books came out. After listening to the first chapter without George Guildall narrarating I've decided not to purchase any others. The story would be great but the story teller is horrible. THIS IS NOT MITCH RAPP!! Please redo with George Guidall!! Please!

File under "how to ruin a good book . . ."

I am still in the first half of the book as I write this review. The narrator is just awful. He makes every character sound like a shrill, whiny, complainer. The action is just starting to really come together, but I can hardly stand to listen. Ken Kilban makes Mitch Rapp sound like he jumped off a rainbow float in a New Orleans parade to assassinate a terrorist before berating the hotel staff because it gave him the wrong candle to match the room's feng shui and messed up his bubble bath. Rule: never, ever, listen to a book read by this guy.

Mitch Rapp should visit Ken Kilban

What disappointed you about Separation of Power?

The narrator was absolutely horrible. He ruined the entire experience of this book. George Guidall needs to redo this story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Was the biggest piece of crap ever. Made Rapp sound like a whiny pansy.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Separation of Power?

The narrator's voice.

Any additional comments?

Don't EVER let this jerk ever read another book.

Story might be good, narration is bad

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narration made it a chore to listen to. I had to relisten to parts since his inflection was so off I never could figure out why everyone was so angry all the time.

If you’ve listened to books by Vince Flynn before, how does this one compare?

This book might be as good as the rest but I don't know. I will consider buying the papeback and reading it myself.

How could the performance have been better?

Don't get me started!
He made everyone sound angry. Made Irene sound old. I couldn't tell one character from another. I kept getting lost and having to relisten to parts. Just a bad job.
A different narrator was needed.

Any additional comments?

I'm sorry to say but this was a waste of my money. I have not enjoyed this book at all. I read the other reviews that said the narration was bad, but I was going to give it a try anyway since I really enjoyed the Mitch Rapp stories. Mistake!
The narrator makes everyone sound angry all of the time. It seems to me the narrator didn't really know the charcters.

Cannot finish it...

The narrator is the worst I have ever heard. I can't even bring myself to finish the book. He turns Mitch Rapp into a high pitched, whiny hero. George Guidall , the narrator for all of the other Mitch Rapp books, really captured the essence of all of the characters in a given book, male and female alike.

Good story poor narrator

It's amazing how much a narrator can affect the enjoyment of a story.

I've read most of Vince Flynn's books & have listened to all of his books on audible. George Guidall is definitely the best for these books, he's a really good narrator & I've got a lot of other books that he's narrated. The first 2 Mich Rapp books & Term Limits were narrated by Nick Sullivan who was ok, but Ken Kilban's narration is very grating

Good plot spoiled by awful narration

If you could sum up Separation of Power in three words, what would they be?

Could be better

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kennedy always seems to have that extra insight into the meanings of people's actions.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ken Kliban’s performances?

Will definitely avoid. Poor intonation, always seems as if a quiet statement is an argument. Dialogue perpetually ends on an upward inflection that I found initially irritating and eventually it spoiled the book. I won't listen to anything by this narrator again. Painful!

Flynn brilliant again

What made the experience of listening to Separation of Power the most enjoyable?

Another brilliant book in the Mitch Rapp Saga, following on nicely to others. Mitchs Character continues to develop and mature. Nice narration and great story. If you're a Rapp fan - this is another great book. Havent listened to a bad Vince Flynn book yet !

What other book might you compare Separation of Power to, and why?

One of the series of Rapp stories: Transfer of Power - Consent to kill

What about Ken Kilban’s performance did you like?

Good narration style.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No but gripping in places

Any additional comments?

Great Book.

Not as good as the earlier Mitch Rapp stories.

The story included several bickering arguments that were tedious. The plot line was not as exciting as the earlier stories. Narration made the Mitch Rapp character seem more irritable and less cool.

Mitch Rapp saves the day!

After Stansfield dies, Irene Kennedy is named as the presidents choice for the new Director of the CIA, the position she temporarily holds. Not everyone in Washington is happy about this and work to derail the process. Anna and Mitch Rapp go to Italy where Anne is expecting a proposal. Things do not go to plan when Rapp meets an old flame. Israels intelligence services uncover the development of atomic weapons in Iraq and the US has to deal with this problem. Yet another excellent book. (Narration not the best)

Another great story, shame about the narration.

This audio book is great the story is fast paced and Mitch Rapp is a truly unique character. The problem is Ken Kliban, his narrative is bland and he made a couple of speech errors (not many you understand but the ones he did were very easy to avoid). Overall it's a great story slightly let down by the narration.

The story is amazing, but................

The story in this book is just as good as the rest of the books in the series. The problem is that the narrator is not. He drones on in the same voice for all of the people in the book. There is no change in the characters voices, they all sound the same.

If this was the first book I would never have bought the others, thankfully he’s only done one, and I can’t listen to it.
