So nice

I’ve been working with a psychologist and decided to go through this book in support of trying to connect more and feel more and not be so numb. This was really wonderful. The hands-on-heart practice was so warming and uplifting. I would highly recommend this series of 6 sessions. You really do have to do everything she says. Every action and every phrase means something. I journaled while listening and have some good notes to review and build from.

Just one word of warning if you have issues with squishy mouth-noises. This sort of thing usually makes me quite aggressive and turned off. I chose to treat this audiobook like a combined ASMR spoken word and somehow it made the experience all the more human. Kristin has a nice, caring voice and is good to listen to.

Highly recommend

This book is truly a valuable tool in learning a practice of self compassion. Neff’s voice is soothing and enjoyable. The entire book became a meditation, with support from Neff’s personal stories, writing exercises and challenged by my own mind. I feel like I have found an essential practice and Neff delivers it so beautifully.

Good intro into Self compassion and the meditation

Felt slow and repetitive. got easily lost with meditations pauses as I travel while listening to books rather than sitting down to mediate to it. I'll probably go over my notes and bookmarks but won't refer to the book often

Take time to be present with this book

I personally found it difficult to listen at first because it is a book that needs the reader to be present ie not one I would listen to while driving . The practical exercises are useful. The information is solid.

Okay but not great

I was hoping this would be a book about self compassion. it's actually a book of meditations with some comments about self compassion.
From what is written about self compassion I found it helpful but I wish there was more. She isn't the best narrator; she doesn't speak clearly. And you can hear her mouth making sounds during the silences, which I found it very irritating.

Fantastic book, lovely to hear author reading.

Loved hearing Kristen talk in a calm and gentle tone about self-compassion. It was wonderful to hear her talking about her work and her life.

The content was easy to understand and the practices reinforced the theory. I had many moments of joy and resonance, as well as sadness when working through these practices. Highly recommended.

Perfect guide to self compassion

Really fantastic, more like a seminar than a book. very interactive and lovingly guided. highly recommend to anyone needing to be more compassionate to themselves, stop the negative self talk. lots of helpful meditations scattered throughout.
