Life changing book

This book came at a very needed time for me. I was burned out, feeling incredibly anxious and rather depressed despite my life actually improving by all accounts. Feelings of shame and inadequacy had become more common than any other emotion. I’d read many other books that also helped but this book provided the missing process of actually taking the time to care for myself and accept, love and support myself as I would do and have done for others I love. I feel I’m on a new path now, one that will lead to greater happiness and fulfillment without feelings of superiority or grandeur, just things as they are but with so much more acceptance and appreciation. Thanks so much for writing this book, it has helped me immeasurably ❤️

Incredible

One of the best books I have read in years. Kristin has a talent of intervening her personal story, the examples of scientific research and the words of spiritual wisdom (both Zen Buddhism and Christianity) into a single narrative. She does it in a very organic way, encouraging the audience to listen and to engage. Wonderful book! Love it.

A beautifull and practical guide for life

Practical and personal examples interwoven with theory and simple exercises to imbue more compassion in your life towards yourself and by default others. Have already implemented some of the strategies and noticed a shift. I'm looking forward to listening to it again.

Life changing

Neff is relatable and her personal stories really allow the reader to exhale and admit some of their own patterns. I often would replay a section and am convinced that self compassion must be developed purposefully over self esteem.

Complements the step by step guide

Gives a wider range of understanding of compassion and goes hand in hand with The Step by Step Guide to Self-Compassion by Kristin. Both books have changed my life in light of massive trauma. I couldn’t feel compassion and didn’t even know self-compassion existed. Now I feel and cry freely. Thanks Kristin

What I really needed to hear and learn

I needed to listen to this book years ago. After suffering with severe mental health and now a recent break up with my fiancee, its very apparent how unhealthy I was being in both my relationship and to myself caused by events in my past that I refused to deal with. The past month, this book has helped me ground myself and start thinking of how to be better to myself and start to accept the reality of my situations. If you feel lost in your life, feel like you aren't worth anything, aren't taking care of yourself, struggling with relationships or just feeling negative about the small things. Read this book and start learning self compassion. Start doing something to help yourself. Thank you Dr. Kristin Neff.

Life Changing

if you're looking at this book, then you probably need it for one reason or another. I wasn't sure I needed it, but i have insecurities so gave it a go after it was recommended and it has made an amazing shift in my life, I feel so much happier, yet nothing has changed, actually my life is going through a really incredibly tough and stressful patch... yet I'm happier. That tells you everything you need to know, buy the book! Xxx

Very Bad Reading

The reading was so bad that I had to try 3 times the first 30 minutes... but still couldn't go through. I think the author hired a "professional" reader which in my opinion was a bad idea. It's best to read this in a natural way, where real emotions are conveyed otherwise we branch off really easily and have a hard time focusing on the content. So unfortunately I wasn't able to continue and have given up. I have been looking for ways to give the audio back but couldn't find an option. I then tried a sample from the same other but this time read by her and this I can relate to. So I am getting this other audio instead... Still a waste thought, very unfortunate!

Excellent

Excellent book great self care techniques for self compassion for every day use. Worth listening to.
