Publisher's Summary

Walker Roberts is a lost man. One fateful night, his entire life was turned upside-down. First, he was turned down by the young man he’d been gathering up the nerve to ask out for two years, and then he lost both his parents. Not only that, he discovers his life is not what he thought it was. At 34, how could he not know the truth about his family? Unable to cope, he walks away from the life he’d built for himself, only to discover his ties to Sulfur Springs might be stronger than he realized.

Tristan Stone is the youngest and most junior man on the Sulfur Springs Fire Department, making him the probie. His crew is amazing, and he’s watched one of his closest friends from high school fall in love with his lieutenant. So, why does he feel like he’s missing something? He’d thought he’d done well with hiding his attraction to the very straight Captain Walker Roberts, but has he? Without warning, Captain Roberts disappears in the middle of the night, and Tristan realizes just how much he misses the older man once he’s gone. Is he coming back?

Tragedy strikes in Sulfur Springs and one of their own is caught in the chaos. Will Walker return in time to save the young man he’s silently watched for so long?

Saving My Sanity is the third book in the Sulfur Springs series. This is a Men of Crooked Bend spin-off, but it isn’t a requirement that you know that series to enjoy this one. Familiar faces will be seen, but this series takes you off of the ranch and into the lives of those in Sulfur Springs. While each book will focus on a different couple, you should listen to them in order. Each book contains sexually explicit material between two men and is intended for adults over 18.

He always dated women until the new guy started

Book three did not disappoint. Walker always dated women until Tristan started is the new guy in the firehouse. Why was Walker so obsessed with Tristan? Could it be love? Ups and downs of life bring them together. I enjoyed the story line, characters, and narration. Looking forward to to book four.

My favourite in the series so far!

After finishing book two in this series and getting a sneak peek at Tristan and Walker I’ve been hanging out to read and listen to this book. Both Tristan and Walker are attracted to each other while thinking the other isn’t interested in them. But things change following separate tragedies that both men have to go through. Walker loses his parents and this causes him to reassess what family means to him as he starts to create a circle of friends who become family to him. Tristan endures emotional abuse at the hands of his parents and fights for custody of his siblings. The book shows the ups and downs of losing one family and creating a new one. Both Tristan and Walker are lovely characters with huge hearts and unending support for the other man.

Michael Pauley did a fantastic job as narrator - as always!

Fantastic

This is book 3 in this series and has all the feels. We have met these MC's in the previous books of this series. This is an emotional filled story and Michael Pauley has done an amazing job bringing both the characters and this story to life.

There is a lot of love and a lot of pain and I highly recommend it.

LOVED IT

I received an ARC of this audio for my honest review. OMG this was another great book by Taylor. I loved how even with all the ups and downs Tristan and Walker went through they stuck it out. I'm hoping that chief can finally get his HEA especially with what he has gone through. This story was SO good that once I started the audio I didn't stop listening until the end. Can't wait to listen to the next one in this Series.

Betrayals or Not?

This is the second book in The Sulfur Springs Series. This is for the audiobook version. An engrossing book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were developed and thought out. Tristan and Walker are the MC’s of this book. The narration was good it wasn’t monotone and there were different voices for each character. I really enjoyed this book and can recommend this book as a good read and listen. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Oh that was beautiful

When a book starts out so heavy it is hard to decide if you want to continue it or not. But I am so glad I did because I was not disappointed when I finally did finish it. This author played my emotions well but I did not mind them at all. And the narrator spoke the pain so easily it made everything harder NOT to cry.

Character breakdown;

Walker: I cried like a baby when reading about his losses, and I felt his grief deep down my bones. But it was nice to see him grow and finding someone to love him even if he did not believe it at first.

Tristian: I adore him but sometimes the man did make me want to punch him. I understand being skeptical about things but sometimes you can't let your past choke you out like that. Glad he gave Walker a chance!

Entertaining

This audiobook is hot AF and ûber emotional in equal measures.

All Michael Pauley's narrations are brilliant and solid; Saving My Sanity isn't the exception.

With that said, in this audiobook his performance was a bit more dramatic and at times OTT . But then, he is portraying highly emotional characters .

Overall ,Saving My Sanity is an entertaining story. I didn't listen to the other two books of the series but , I don't feel it hinder my enjoyment of this audio.

Received an ALC code of this through LesCourt and this is my honest review.

Better than the first

So I missed the 2nd in the series but did listen to.the first and while there is sorta some insta love happening it is better developed than the first and the chatacters are likable. I do wish we got more of the story with the parents and them as a couple.

Love Overcomes All

Saving My Sanity is the third book in the Sulphur Springs series. It should be read after the first two books.

This is a contemporary romance centered around two firefighters who are both managing some difficult family issues. I really liked this book, especially how both men have to support each other and overcome some serious family dysfunction. There were a lot of sweet moments in between all the angst and drama. The audiobook was narrated by Michael Dean who does a great job with the performance. The audiobook production was well done.

as great as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Michael Pauley/Dean is one of the 8 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, just over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Tristan and his captain

Captain Roberts has spent a long time to find out why he was attracted to the probie of his team. But when his life takes a sudden change he is all over the place. When Tristan is hurt in the rescue of his friend Hawke, Walker hurries back to Sulphur Springs and comes head to head with Tristan's family. What happens next is nothing he would have expected but welcomes it with all his heart. This is the third book in the series and Taylor is not quite finished yet with all these loveable men. Michael Dean did a great job again to make these men come alive.

A great book on a difficult subject

Story: Wow! Following on two geat previous books, Saving My Sanity brings with it all the great qualities of previous titles, adding to it with an important topic of parental abuse and religious bias. Loved how the themes were treated without unnecessary big bangs, while still delivering an impactful message. Good job!
Narration: Similar to previous titles, the narration was great - easy to follow and clear. A great voice for a great story.

Family Secrets. Religious Zealots. Can love win?

This Sulfur Springs is an excellent series by Taylor Rylan and I also have the first two books in the series, so I was able to come at this with a knowledge of the characters involved, so I recommend reading/listening to the first two books in order to get the best appreciation of the powerful themes in this story.
Michael Pauley is one of my favourite narrators of all time and he does an awesome job of bringing the guys to life. Family can either be a source of comfort, support and salvation, or it can be a place where you feel alone if you're different too what your family expects of you. This is what Walker and Tristan have to discover...sometimes the family that you choose becomes your true family.
Highly recommended for lovers of first time gay romance and of complex, interesting characters.

Love Firemen stories!

I love books with firemen and I've been eager for this one after the previous two books. It worked to be pretty angsty and I think maybe some of that could have been smoothed out a little but over all I enjoyed it and their path of how they ended up together I really felt though and the resolution while maybe a little rushed worked in. the end. Michael delivered another great performance

Great Listen

This is a really great listen. I thought the explanation and resolution of Walker's parentage was rushed through and I still had questions, but the relationship between he and Tristan was well developed. I absolutely loved the way the team came together and supported each other through every tragedy and loss. Tristan's family...WOW...his parents were an absolute nightmare. I was so glad that he and Walker were able to support the girls and stop the cycle. This was my first listen in the Sulfur Springs series, and now I want to go back and listen to the first two books.

Michael Pauley's narration is excellent as always. Unique voices for the characters, emotional delivery, and great pacing.
