Publisher's Summary

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media's harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad-boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin and a touch that could become an addiction.

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that he'll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn't only her body that's become addicted to Fox but her heart....

really disappointing

What disappointed you about Rock Addiction?

I'm a Nalini Singh fan. I like her archangel and psy changling series. Have listened to both series, some several times and can't wait to pounce on the next installment. This was like it was written by someone else. Nothing happened and the characters never grew on me. I wanted to tell them to grow up and pay attention. Reeaally......Felt like the author was trying to write something more "commercial".

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not any more of this series

Would you be willing to try another one of Justine O. Keef’s performances?

wouldn't be top of my list

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

boredom mostly, and ticked off at the waste of my time.

Meh.

I'm 3 hours in and unimpressed. It's got good sex scenes and starts them early, but in between there ain't much plot. The story is set in New Zealand with New Zealanders among the main characters, but so far there has been one, exactly one, person read with a New Zealand accent, and that was an unnamed neighbor with maybe two lines of dialog.

Hero: aggressive male, a few issues, mundane trope.
Heroine: major issues, timid, and rather pathetic.

Bored and moving on. Hoping Ms Singh gets bored and returns to writing about angels that make vampires and the people who get to play catch with runaway vamps. At least those characters all have backbones.

Narrator sounds too old for the main character

I thought the story was decent but the narrator bothered me. Shes narrating the story of a 24 year old man & women yet she sounds like shes in her 40s which totally threw me off while trying to picture the story and the characters. Would have preferred the amazing Grace Grant❤️

Too cheesy for the subject matter

Any additional comments?

Oui! That was painful to get through. I fall asleep listening to audiobooks all of the time (even good ones), but I feel asleep at the END of this one. The story wasn't horrible but not really original. Hot rock guy meets sweet, innocent, gorgeous, and surprisingly single girl and they fall for each other. They both have lot's of baggage from difficult childhoods, so there's a lot to work out. But the book feels like my grandma wrote it. I don't know if it's the narrator or just the dialog (both I think), but all of the things they say sound like they're straight out a chessy 80's sitcom.
If you really like the rock god's thing, go with the Sinner's on Tour series or the Bad Habit's series.

LOVEABLE CHARACTERS & A GREAT STORY

I loved this listen, Fox wasn't your average bad boy Rocker because straight away he knew he wanted Molly and schemed to get her and keep her. He could tell she came with a lot of past demons that haunted her and made her very nervous about commitment that's why she didn't want to be seen by the paparazzi because then they would find out the truth about her past. Fox also had some trauma in his past that made him a bit moody and volatile. But these two lovers talked to each other, shared their fears, were committed to each other, understood each other, trusted and had faith in each other so it was an enjoyable, smooth and easy listen.

They couldn't keep their hands off each other so there was plenty of sex and the rest of the characters and Band mates were all very entertaining and likeable. So no real dramas just a little angst as a bit of insecurities crept in but great Band dynamics and an awesome narrator. My only complaint was the ending seemed to skip forward and then be wrapped up very quickly and I would have liked it to have given more details about their move and for it to have continued longer (but damn it we can't have everything).

Worth a credit? I love Nalini Singh (especially her Archangels in the Guild Hunter series) and although this is a whole new Contemporary route for her to take I think she did a great job which was very creditworthy and I'm eagerly watching out for the next Band member to be struck by Cupid's arrow.

It was cute, but had no substance

I love Nalini Singh and have read all of the Psy-Changeling & Archangel books.
I expected this book to be of the same caliber, sadly it's not.
It is a cute love story with lots of vanilla sex, no true meat to it.
I like mysteries, science-fiction, excitement with romance thrown in.
This book has only romance, it reminds me of a low key version on Fifty Shades of Grey.

Ugh, Just Ugh

I could not get through this one. The plot is absurd and nothing seems to happen but a couple of unlikely individuals having a lot of sex. Basically, very average Molly and a bad boy rock star see each other at an event and become enamored. They start off with hot sex and, within a few days, he is madly in love with her for not apparent reason.

The are both drama queens as they go through the initial machinations of their "relationship". He comes across as very controlling too and has ridicules expectations of her after just a few days. It defies reason.

The whole thing comes across as a pathetic romance novel. That is now what I was expecting when I bought this one.

Its nothing I would recommend.

pauses too long

im going to read it myself. the narration style is not great. the pauses is aggravating to me. sounds worse when sped up. the words are quick but garbled and the silent gaps are even more evident. only use to listen to books during traffic. wasted my credit.

My favourite book of the series

This is my favourite book of the series so far. I really enjoy T. rex and Charlie but nothing beats Fox.

Dry

I got sooo board. The narrator sounded too old to portray a 24 year. Who already seemed like some old fuddy duddy. Her back story also didn't cut it for me. Wasted credit.
