Publisher's Summary

After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she'd finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn't love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.

Abe knows he's to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life - the sexy, smart woman he adores - breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love, even if he knows he doesn't deserve it.

But can he convince Sarah - now strong and independent without him - to risk her wounded heart one more time?

love and respect

I've listened to this book twice and it breaks my heart just the same everytime. this story stays with you forever. the hurt people suffer in a marriage, the helplessness of not being able to help someone in the thick of drugs, the loss of a baby and how tumultuous that gets emotionally, neglect and just how horrid Sarah's childhood was. its so real and raw that its a go to read over and over Nalini Singh writes so well. the happy ending was well deserved these two earned it and need it.

IMO, GOOD.. BUT IT WAS THE WEAKEST IN THE SERIES

As Abe and Sarah's marriage crumbles through drugs, grief, broken promises and harsh words Sarah thought it would totally break her.. and it nearly did. But, after the heartache of a love lost, hurtful words and shattered dreams dwindled to manageable pain, Sarah blossomed into a successful businesswoman and took over her own life.. and the direction it took. Abe however was hurting.. still hurting over the death of his little sister and heartbroken over the loss of the woman he deeply loved - so what did he do? Well, like any good Rocker.. he partied - partied hard - partied until his Band mates checked him into rehab. When he wasn't high or drunk anymore, and could think clearly, he knew one thing.. he wanted his wife back - and he'd move heaven and earth to get her to love him again.

And so starts this romantic second chance love story because Abe is given the unexpected chance to show Sarah how much he's changed, how much he regrets his past behaviour, how much he's willing to do anything for her.. and how much he loves her. But Sarah is very cautious about lowering her shields and letting Abe in to maybe shatter her world all over again. So it's up to Abe to show Sarah rather than tell her that the old Abe is gone.. replaced by a caring, loving, dependable.. and sober Abe.

While this was an enjoyable dual POV love story, I did feel the loss of certain scenes that would have made this listen more punchy, deeper and dramatic. However, after their rocky start, Abe and Sarah sailed nicely into their HEA's with no dramas or angsty situation - except the background worry that things would go smoothly for all. There were sex scenes but they weren't over described, overdone or prolonged, all the other well loved band mates (and their significant others) were present.. and sometimes the spotlight was turned their way - and there were a few other secondary characters too. I love Justine O. Keef's narration - her male voices are great and so too were the secondary characters whose voices were all different.

Worth a credit? Nalini Singh has wrapped up this series well, tied a shiny ribbon around it.. and even given us a big fat bow on top.. so hell yeah it's creditworthy.

Left a lot to be desired

I read an earlier review by someone who said nothing really happened in this story. So very true. In fact it was more as if the outline of the book was narrated instead of the book. We mostly just hear time moved on and during that time x y and z happened and it's later now.

It truly prevents you from being invested in the storyline or the characters. It's been awhile since I read and listened to the other books but I didn't remember them being written in the same way. Very disappointing and I think I'll ask for my credit back. Wait for a sale or buy one get one deal otherwise you will be disappointed

Second Chance

The narrator did a good job. I enjoyed this second chance romance between Abe & Sarah and I loved revisiting with the other characters of this series.

A total miss ☹️

Normally I think Nalini Singh is a virtual Goddess when it comes to writing romance but I was so disappointed by this book that I could not wait until it was over. I felt it dragged on too long with trivial dialogues or descriptions that did not add any depth or interest to the story. For instance, we don’t need to hear or read about what kind of breakfast the heroine and hero ate described in great detail. This story could have been told in half the length or time.... Also it was extremely depressing at times which took away from the romance aspect. I mean really?! Did the heroine past have to be that messed up and depressing???? It wAs too much and I’m afraid the editor on this book failed to do their job😕

All the feels- triumphant!

Careful of triggers. If you have ever lost a child be forewarned. As usual Nahlini weaves the most amazing stories. This story was at times heart wrenching, but also fun and determined. Sometimes you don’t realize what you have until you lose it all - with enough determination sometimes you can get it back and more!!

Don’t miss out on this series!

I love Nalini Singh’s psy/Changeling and guild hunter series and kept passing over these books because I into paranormal romance but decided to give them a try..... they are so well written and the narrator does a stellar job! I laughed as much as I cried. With that combo of writing and narrating I promise you will have hours of enjoyment ❤️ I only wish there were more books I am not ready to leave their world, sigh

Started out horrible but turned out to be pretty good

I have to say that if this wasn’t one of my favorite authors I would have stopped after the 2nd chapter. This had to be the worst start to any story I’ve ever read or listened to. The female was so needy and weak she was just pitiful. The guy had absolutely no redeeming values, he was so abusive to her and himself. But, he got his addictions under control & she grew independent & in control of her life. They ended up having a sweet romance, cause the first time certainly couldn’t be called that. The other’s weddings were nice but seemed to be just thrown in the storyline.

This woman is weak

The heroine in this book needed a spine sooner. The reason I liked these stories is because of the women's strength. This woman again was too weak for too long in this story for my taste. The performance was good as usual. I didn't like her until midway of this story.

Spectacular Finish

This book was a spectacular finish to the Rock Kiss series. Sarah and Abe's story was such a hopeful but emotional story. Absolutely loved this book. Justine O. Keef was phenomenal.

4 DIFFERENT WEDDINGS AND VERY HAPPY ENDINGS

Nalini I loved the way you've ended.each & every one of THE CHOIR BOYS lives with their partners, but oh heck Abe's & Sarah's editor story broke my heart in areas but yes we has humour & the glow of THE INTENSITY of each one of them but oh god Abe's & Sarah's had been the best of the ROCK KISS SERIES

There great

I've enjoyed all 5 of the series and I would recommend to romance lovers. I wish you could do the psy/changeling books
