Critic Reviews

"One of the most original and frightening storytellers of our time" (Peter James)
"This is Graham Masterton’s third novel featuring Irish detective Katie Maguire. A natural storyteller with a unique gift for turning the mundane into the terrifyingly real." ( New York Journal of Books)

I’m be listened to the first three in this series and this one has been the best yet. Sadly I’ve had to return the 4th as the narrator is nowhere near the standard of the first three. I hope they re-record it with a different author cause I’d love to hear the story. Graham Masterson has been a really exciting find for me!

Loving this author

too much gore and unnecessary soft porn type moments ruin these books.
misogynistic and tone deaf characterizations of women don't help. I am calling it a day after 4 books even though the plots are good.

persistent flaws ruin a good series.

Enjoyed the book, however found that the author really exaggerates or unnecessarily prolongs gruesome scenes of violence, they go on, go on, go on, to the point that it makes the book feel reallycheap.
Also I found unbelievable and annoying story of Kate's relationship with a man she loves, total tripe.
She loves him,but loves her work more.
Also scene at the end of support from collegue, female police officer, and kiss they exchange, suggestive of something might be starting between female collegue and Kate, this was rather a cheap shot and totally unbelievable. Those flaws in a story destroy interesting plot.

Great read, however...
