An excellent sequel

Builds off the established story from the first book beautifully.
Narrator performed excellently.
The variety of combat used makes every fight feel fresh and intriguing.

Over explained

The lore story and voice acting are really good in my opinion

However the story explains every detail over and over again

Ect
Narrator:he equipped a ranged shield to deflect ranged attacks

Narrator: the ranged attacks had no effect on him a blue barrier blocking the bullets

Narrator:this battle had gone just as he planned he was able to be more aggressive due to his planning and the shield he brought that protected him from ranged attacks

While this is not a bad thing as explaining will help some understand the story better

For me i am listening to the same thing three times my mind having filled in the blanks long ago

Desperately needs an editor

Overall story is fine, op Mc wuxia story.
Preety much no charecter development for the Mc (his friends gets some)
Biggest problem is using a few key words in literary every sentence, I simply CANNOT bear to hear the words; instantly, immediately, genius, perfectly, perfectly calm, absolute confidance, precise. Absolute precision
and many many more completely useless fluff words that make the story sound clunky. People don't act with absolute precision in every act they do and that's fine, flaws are what makes characters interesting, Michael dosent have any and I can say with absolute confidence how incredibly boring listening to Michael precisely wiping his butt. His friend on the other hand is a well written character with motives, flaws and initiative. I would love to listen to a story about him but alas it's about the most boring character with the thickest plot Armour I've ever seen.
The performance by the narrator was great assuming you listen at 1.25x speed, otherwise i wouldn't be able to listen to the entire book.
Honestly a good editor could bring this book to incredible heights, minimize the fluff words that makes me bleed from my ears and tone down on the mc plot armor.
BTW i still don't know how Stat point work and it drove me nuts... Four different power systems (ki/stats/soul/weapon mastery) , just pick one and stick with it

Written to sound cool, not much else

The first book was better but still suffered from this problem a little, however in this book seems to rely heavily on the deus ex machina trope, where something unexpected happens that resolves a problem in the story. This includes stuff like weaknesses, powers, utility of powers and random bits of knowledge that seemingly appear right as they are needed, all of which occour in this book. Additionally it seems like whenever the perspective of another character is used to show one of the main characters, particularly from a female character, they simply fawn over them, saying how great they are.

While the orator is pretty good sometimes, it seems as though he feels the need to over enunciatethe rest of the time, particularly during fight scenes. Finally, the use of some sounds such as swallowing water is downright horrifying, though I imagime some people will have better or worse reactions to this.
There is a fair bit more to complain about but these are my main gripes, if you want a mostly mindless book with action that is made to sound cool you might like it but otherwise I would not recomend.

Telling instead of Showing. Always.

I really want to love these books. The world is awesome, the premise cool, the litrpg elements pretty interesting...

But man it's a slog. Even the exposition has exposition. Fight scenes can last for an hour as the author painstakingly explains every little bit of minutiae to such an extreme that I ended up skipping. A lot.

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I day around 40% of the book feels like bloat.

Instead of describing the fight scene as it happens, the author will not only describe every millisecond in extreme detail, but he'll then explain the reason for every decision made, its strengths, its weaknesses, why it's possible, how its possible, the steps taken to make sure it'll work and on and on and on...

It's just way too much. A skilled editor would cut a lot out of this story and make it flow much more smoothly...

I'm interested enough to see where the story goes next, but I foresee more skipping in future installments.

Becoming my favorite series.

This series has quickly turned into my favorite litrpg series. I’ve noticed many reviews calling the way the author explains the fights as”painfully detailed”. I strongly disagree. Because the MC is under powered and working on such a tight time frame he has to plan out every action using years of skill to win his fights if just barely. Which in turn is explained. If he was just fighting on par with everyone and everything with less of an explanation it wouldn’t make sense.

Good story, but to verbose

The story is great like the first book. the issue is how wordy and repetitive the book can get. I found myself sometime hitting the skip button once or twice per chapter (sometimes more) due to how verbose it got. you could literally cut 5 to 7 hours and have a more enjoyable book. I just hope this issue is fixed like the author did in book 1 (for when I reread). I also hope this isnt an issue with future books.

3/5 stars until fixed

good story but one major flaw in the narration

you dont have to put disgusting swallowing sounds in when the author writes that mv swallowed a glass of water. had to stop listening for a bit to recover from that horror.

Best litrpg on market

All of these other litrpgs are trash fantasies focusing on harems and unrational characters. Reborn apoc series is something refreshing and exciting to indulge, narrator is also very good cant wait for book 3.

Great read if you like wuxia novels Or fantasy

It’s a great read. It reminds me of a few wuxia novels that I love. Wish audible would get more. They are great I am happy that the second one came out I bought it the day. And if they every bring them over I might go broke. Bc of how majestic they are. Now I have to wait for the 3 one to be out. Just saying audible you are missing out on tons of money from these wuxia books. And if you wish to read more wuxia books there are free sites that will open a new world of ideas and culture.

Actually tried to make this book a tad too cool

Quick review. Love the story and narrator. Only nitpicking I can do is there is a lot of times when we have the same situation happen from multiple viewpoints trying to show how epic the moment is from different perspectives. I personally like this but it was used a little too much in the beginning of this book. Also too much explaining about how a situation occurred. It's like your treating everyone reading the book as five year olds who couldn't follow any of the book to realize how something happened.

2nd Installment is Worthy Too

This second in the series didn’t disappoint!
I listened in every spare moment, which is a shame because now we need to wait a year (?) for Michael’s adventures on the second layer.

not bad but fights last to long

the story isn't bad but I think the author has watched to much dragon ball where fights last 4 -5 episodes with everyone having to explain all their moves in exacting detail

Fun story, amateur writing.

First I'll say the the story is fun and entertaining. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

The author and editor should crack open a thesaurus and dictionary. This book was packed with my pet peeves. "Unique" doesn't require a descriptor. Something is either unique or it isn't. "Extremely unique" must have been repeated a hundred times. The misuse of "decimate" has always irked me as well, but it wasnt repeated nearly as much as the overuse of a small batch of adjectives.

That being said, the story is good. The writer will improve and I look forward to the next installment and hopefully a glimpse of progress for L.M. Kerr.

Better than the first 5*

This book was hugely anticipated and rightly so. It features a dozen of new characters with epic skills. The book is also double the size of the previous one offering different perspectives allowing the reader to get into the mind and motives of each individual.

Most importantly for me this book shows us great character progression from the previous book and it finally features Micheals best friend Shin! Shin is hilarious and offers a more humorous outtake to the bleak apocalyptic vibe.

This book it amazing I will be listening to this series again and cant wait for the next release Come on book 3!

P.s. Adam Stubbs did an amazing job keep it up
