Publisher's Summary

Returning for a second year at Akarnae Academy with her gifted friends, Alexandra Jennings steps back through a doorway into Medora, the fantasy world that is full of impossibilities.

Despite the magical wonder of Medora, Alex’s life remains threatened by Aven Dalmarta, the banished prince from the Lost City of Meya who is out for her blood.

To protect the Medorans from Aven’s quest to reclaim his birthright, Alex and her friends seek out the Meyarin city and what remains of its ancient race. Not sure who - or perhaps what - she is anymore, all Alex knows is that if she fails to keep Aven from reaching Meya, the lives of countless Medorans will be in danger. Can she protect them, or will all be lost?

Not a good sign

This second book in the series grew more and more predictable, so much so that it became hard to believe Alex was caught off guard with what I presume was meant to be a twist. "Less believable" lead to irritation, ending in me wanting to just skip ahead until I was passed all the 'why is he behaving so strangely?' thoughts. And then to have Alex fight a kind of demi-god in her evening wear complete with high heels had me scoffing. (I am all for strong female characters kicking ass, especially with pretty choreography if it is on-screen, but as far as I know, even the Black Widow fights in practical shoes or bare feet when forced to fight while undercover.) Anyway, incredulity and boredom are not a good sign, especially when I look ahead to how many books are still to go. I REALLY like the friendships that have developed between the main characters but I think I will bail here.
Oh, and there was a distinct 'use the force Luke, reach out with your feelings' moment (Star Wars mirror) that I kind of get, but also feel a little cheated by. Not sure why.

Lynette Noni what a great 1st series!

considering Lynette wrote this series for fun , for herself, I'm so glad she chose to publish it. It's an utterly amazing series! There is continuous action throughout this book, the characters evolve further, your emotions are dragged 😳 in every direction. Straight on to book 3!! Realia does not disappoint 👏 🙌 👌 😍

sequels pre-ordered!

fun YA fiction elevated by a stellar narrator who differentiates the characters well. also - addresses logic gaps from first book eg. old-school subjects vs advance tech world.

A wonderful surprise on a random purchase!

This was a series I was unsure about purchasing at first. I wasn't a huge Narnia fan, and thought it might be too childish, but I am so glad I decided to give it a shot! I would say this is like a more mature Narnia meets the Black Mage series. I love Alex, the main character, and how she handles both herself and her relationships with others. The supporting characters are so strong and vivid, with intensely strong personalities. The author does an incredible job at disclosing the characters inner reasons for being who they are without going on and on about it. I love the different worlds we've learned about and began to explore. Raelia is probably my favorite so far because I love the people/creatures that live their and their abilities. In most series I eventually get bored and zone out a bit, but this one seriously holds my attention. I've already bought book three and can't wait to find out what's going to happen. If you don't like cliffhangers, you'll just have to get over it and buy all the books to read in order since they are all out.

I am still laughing!

The reference to "He who must not be named" was well written and funny. Just another example of how good a story it is.

More adventures, tests, and choices

This book is better than the first, though hard to imagine. Will Alex be able to protect the Medorans, or will she fail? Is she the right person to fulfill the prophecy? The Medoran Chronicles is one of the better hero's quests that I have read.

Raelia

I love this story, and all the characters! If you like the supernatural, sci-fi, you will also. The personality of each character is described so well, you can picture them. Hope the story goes on and on. Movie should be made from these books! Thanks to author for taking me out of this world into a realm where anything is possible.

Glad I started with book 3

I love this series but I am glad my addiction started with book 3. Most of the characters seemed a wee bit less mature than I felt they should have. If the author was trying to capture pre-teenage immaturety then she did it well in this book. It makes me wonder if our beloved characters are actually younger than the story tells us though. I'm interested to see how all the characters will develop throughout the series. The story does develop well though & is worth the listen! The narrators voice & character separation adds great depth to the story. I look forward to starting book 2 soon.

The Story makes no sense

I enjoyed the first book, and this also seemed nice until the last hour where none of the decisions taken made any sense. It stopped being believable.

I still have 30 minutes to go and I no longer care. The main character is just retarded.

As enjoyable as the first one

I'm still enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book, however I wish the narrator wouldn't use the same whiny voice for the other girls. She has them whining whilst they're saying things that clearly show they are not complaining.
Apart from that little niggle, this story deserves its four stars.
