About this listen

Before I begin—it's 1: 29 p.m. on April 14, 2025. In a recent class, the instructor shared 17 traits of an entrepreneur, and I felt compelled to reflect on how they relate to me.

17 Traditional Signs of an Entrepreneur

You don’t want to work for anyone else.

Let’s call this a bonus trait. Yes, I dream of having my own company and hiring my own team. I’m done with micromanagers and rigid schedules. My ideal company would prioritize balance: early arrivals would offset late ones, and efficiency would matter more than hours worked. If someone completes tasks quickly, why keep them tethered to a desk? Real flexibility—not performative “work-from-home” policies—should be the standard.

1. Motivated by Fear

Fear of what? Bills, of course. That’s the real reason people seek jobs—financial necessity. Everything else, like company values, is secondary. Claims of being "family-oriented" often make employees want to run the other way.

2. Hate Being Told No

I believe in working smarter, not harder. Growth comes from reflection—not waiting until the same mistake happens again before fixing it.

3. Thrives on Uncertainty

Let’s be honest—no one enjoys uncertainty. But I do embrace experimentation, testing the theory that self-kindness, grace, empathy, and faith in my own success lead to abundance. Yesterday, kindness was wearing favorite shoes. Today, it’s writing freely, knowing I can edit later (even if I probably won’t).
