About this listen
Everyone needs a guardian angel…
Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates. But not Holly and Gerry.
Childhood sweethearts, they could finish each other's sentences and even when they fought, they laughed. No one could imagine Holly and Gerry without each other.
Until the unthinkable happens. Gerry's death devastates Holly. But as her 30th birthday looms, Gerry comes back to her. He's left her a bundle of notes, one for each of the months after his death, gently guiding Holly into her new life without him, each note signed 'PS, I Love You'.
As the notes are gradually opened, and as the year unfolds, Holly is both cheered up and challenged. The man who knows her better than anyone sets out to teach her that life goes on. With some help from her friends, and her noisy and loving family, Holly finds herself laughing, crying, singing, dancing – and being braver than ever before.
Life is for living, she realises – but it always helps if there's an angel watching over you.

Overall, it was a sad book, but it didn’t make me cry. I guess I didn’t connect to the narrative. The POV felt odd, first-person, but not?? My biggest problem was that she thought she couldn’t eat in front of a man.
it was a sad book

Yes it slows down towards the end, but it begins in full action instead! And somehow I lime it.
I watched the movie many years ago so can't compare them, but I loved them both!
I had no problem with the narrator, I love her accent and she makes me relate to her.
I cried, a lot. And I'm not an easy cryer. If you ever lost someone - in any way; death heartbreak or life decision - one can relate I would have thought.
I can't believe this does not have better reviews!!

There's nothing particularly endearing about the main character apart from the fact that she's lost her husband, so you feel sad for her. Other than that, not much else appeals. It's sweet that her dying husband had the forethought to set up monthly letters for her first year to get her through - that was sweet - but even those weren't particularly swoon worthy or heartfelt. They were more instructional.
The supporting cast of family and friends were good but there weren't any standouts to me. It was just...a nice book. It is cool that Cecilia Ahern was only 21 when she wrote it though.
