Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality - the “other,” the shadow side - is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses - our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power.

Unapologetically Awesome
I have studied Power Intelligence with Julie Diamond, read all Brené Brown’s books, am aware of how to build a sense of personal power and about using my privilege well. But at a time where I’d lost confidence in myself and my place in the world, this book has lifted me up and given me a path to building my experience of power in the world from the inside out.
This book challenged me in ways I can appreciate, gave me actionable reflections and expanded my ability to be in the world unapologetically.
One thing that really stood out to me is the idea that the system isn’t broken, it was designed to exclude and is built on negating our needs. On some level I knew this but the way Kemi expressed it took it to a new level. It helped me see my own behaviour through a new lens and to stop feeling bad about asserting what works for me and what’s important to me.
This book has inspired me to see our social system in a different light and forge my own path without feeling alone. As someone who has done a lot of self development, therapy and personal growth work and as a leadership coach myself, I don’t often find something that has such an impact. It’s what I needed right now, I clearly have a lot to learn from this remarkable woman. I heartily recommend this book.

Every word is gold. This is a life changing book.
Kemi Nekvapil’s ‘Power’ is formidable.
I have listened to many audiobooks, but this one hit me on another level. Kemi has researched power deeply and shares many quotes and references, I found myself inspired and learning from the outset of the book. She dives deeply into the importance of diversity and overcoming the challenges of discrimination.
The personal stories Kemi adds struck a deep chord alongside the compelling narrative of power. She forced me to reflect on power in my own life and I honestly feel stronger, wiser and more powerful as a result of reading this book.

Kemi Nekvapil is a life-changer
Loved this book in more ways than I can articulate in this space. I am so very grateful to Kemi for sharing her deep, lived understanding of power with to ignite the power that is inate in all of us, and find belonging in ourselves and amongst others.
In this book, Kemi successfuly helps us to find our voice, question and dismantle that which is often unquestioned, and ignite and own power within ourselves while reminding others of their power
Read this book. It is amazing. Kemi is amazing too. Living and leading without apology, open-heart kind of wonderful.

If this book has found you, you MUST read it
There is no polite way to write about this confrontational and realistic perspective on both historical and modern day paradigms.
Be you man, woman, lover, parent, sister brother, born in England, born in Africa, caramel skinned, freckled or a mixture...you will find solace and brutal confrontation in the words that pave the road ahead. I wish we were all as brave as Kemi, I wish we all spoke with our hearts; trials and tribulations on our sleeves. The faster we can learn from each other the faster, as one we can evolve.
A pivotal read for those faced with being somehow “different” yet we are all somewhat the same.
Whilst this book is designed to appeal to the modern day “she” It’s contents reach much further and would empower many fathers, brothers and leaders of all genders, races, birth countries and education levels alike.
An emotionally challenging read for those ready to accept pre anticipated boundaries.

Inspiring, down to earth & honest
I happened by chance to hear an interview with Kemi on the ABC. Firstly I was drawn by her familiar accent , and similar age, and then by all she had to say. I will admit I don’t normally listen to or read books like this (I’m a fiction/escape girl) but I found it empowering , inspiring and it’s timing serendipitous. It felt like a friend was giving me amazing advice and understanding every experience I have had in corporate business (and life) as a woman, and as a forever apologising Englishwoman too, I felt like she was talking to me across a wine or coffee, not via my car speaker! I have recommended this to all my friends and if I ever see Kemi speaking anywhere, ever, will be booking a ticket!
