About this listen

Danish countess Karen Blixon, known as Isak Dineson, ran a coffee plantation in Kenya in the years when Africa remained a romantic and formidable continent to most Europeans. Out of Africa is her account of her life there, with stories of her respectful relationships with the Masai, Kikuyu, and Somali natives who work on her land; the European friends who visit her; and the imposing permanence of the wild, high land itself. Stage and television actress Julie Harris delivers a reading that is emotionally charged and reflective, recreating Dinesen's lively appreciation for the land she loved so much.Public Domain (P)1985 The Audio Partners Publishing Corp. I have always had an interest in the white hunters of Africa , but I had not read this book , nor watched the movie of the same name , mostly because iv never been a fan of Merrell Streep , you know the hypocrite, that called the scumbag and serial rapist Harvey Weinstein “GOD” . But I was a bit surprised that she never mentioned her estranged husband Baron brewer von blixen finika , probably the greatest white hunter of all who at the end stood near his friends grave Beda “ the bald one” Denys finch hatten , the forth sone of an earl who was also the lover of his former wife Karen blixen ( the author ) and watched her leaving their farm at the end . But in all it was beautifully written story. Maybe she was upset with blix at the time of writing as he had been a pretty famous womaniser , but before her death in the mid 60s I believe she had said if she was able to relive one part of her life it would be to be on safari with the great blix again one more time.

well written

Great abridgement, but you can hear the faint sounds of talking in the background and it's distracting and annoying!
