Publisher's Summary

Are you your own biggest critic? Do you tend to be hard on yourself, impatient with your setbacks, and quick to judge yourself? Perhaps, you appear self-assured on the outside, but inside you often feel inferior, doubtful, and question yourself.

After writing the runaway best seller Not Nice, Dr. Aziz returns to tackle the biggest killer of confidence: your own inner critic. That voice in your head tells you that you can’t achieve what you want or be loved for who you are, because you’re not enough. Unfortunately, most people don’t realize just how much that negative voice is running their lives, creating stress, anxiety, perfectionism, relentless business, and overwhelm.

Through his work with thousands of people in live events, group programs, and online, Dr. Aziz systematically uncovered the most effective approach to rapidly end self-criticism and doubt and replace it with permanent self-worth and confidence.

In this refreshingly honest and moving book, Dr. Aziz gives you specific guidance, powerful exercises, and clear strategies to regain control inside your own mind, so you can live with more freedom, self-expression, trust, and confidence in yourself, than ever before!

You’ll also discover how to:

  • Put an end to constant comparison, self-judgment, and internal criticism
  • Skyrocket your sense of value, self-worth, and inner confidence
  • Stop doubting yourself and start living with bold self-trust
  • Eliminate your fear of failure, mistakes, and the disapproval of others
  • Truly like yourself and enjoy living your life

Mastery = interest x fascination

Listened to the audible version of it and hands down was one of the best decisions I've made till date. I was reading, rather listening to OMOS whilst going through a very challenging time in my life, and Dr. Aziz, if you are reading this- just know that your words have left a positive impact on me, and have potentially saved a life. Thank you!

Life changing!!

Without a doubt this man is the Michael Jordan of building confidence! In a sea of self help books in my Audible library this one would stand alone, had it not been for his other books! This man is the goose that the golden eggs keep coming out of! More than a few times in this book I had to stop reading and wonder what my life would have looked like if I had the insight or strategy, I just read, earlier in my life.

It could be shorter

I’d appreciate if his books were shorter but instead they are filled with bunch of unnecessary stories or other nonsense. It’s just total time waste, especially when he’s well aware that people do not finish self-help books. There are other books explaining the same things in 2 hours but his book takes 16 hours to explain simple things. He's doing this on purpose to prepare you for his other courses. Simple marketing trick.

Your are amazing Aziz, as a father of two dealing with running my small business you have helped me see how to be whole and on my own side. I love your stories where you make yourself vulnerable. They are real and it shows. Thanks for being brave and sharing your insights and feelings. This book has really really helped me.

A must read/listen for anyone that is human.

Aziz is a wonderful author, narrator, and knows how to break even the most complex concepts into easily digestible bites packed full of good "clean fuel" for thought.

It’s good

It is a good book. I recommend it. I like the author’s stories about his growth experiences and about his family life. He has a lot to offer. I liked "Not Nice" so much that I also bought the ebook and wanted to see what "On My Own Side" would contribute. I got in to It and also bought the ebook. It is a solid but not inspired follow up to the previous volume. I hope the author continues to write and publish in the future. I want to see where he goes with his work. I think the author is at the beginning of a great career as a writer. "Not Nice" is at the beginning end of inspired. On My Own Side is solid and continues and contributes to the discussion but it didn't knock my socks off like the previous book did. If the author continues to work at it and continues to develop his skills I think he will really fly high and these already very good books will be his apprentice pieces. With a lot of work he could become a William James or produce work with the status of H.D. Thoreau. Like with Not Nice, it sounds like an extended podcast to me. The personality of the author/presenter is engaging and lively.

Another wonderful book!

Another great game-changing book by Dr. Aziz! I immediately noticed the way that I was talking to myself and certain scenarios. Using some simple techniques from the first couple of chapters I've already seen large improvements in how I fuel myself. This book has been a nice read for me, my wife, and my six children. I'm glad he overcame his negative self-talk and published another great book.

On my own side - a great listen

I've followed Dr Aziz for about a year now and his strength is his ability to be almost completely transparent about his own struggles and victories. He practices what he teaches, yet like us all can still fall for ego led traps and become lured by the ghosts of the past. The audio flew by and is something I will revisit many more times.

Thank you for this incredible work, Aziz.

I've listened to all of Aziz' books so far, and I'm impressed with how they just get better and better. As with his previous work, this book is superbly narrated, in a natural, sincere, heartfelt way, and with good humour. I believe this book, even more so than his others, really speaks direct to the heart. The message of OMOS is simple but profound: you no longer need to live under the harsh rule of your inner critic, who you will never satisfy (I decided to call mine Biff by the way, after Biff from Back to the Future). Instead, you can consciously choose to be on your own side, starting right now. You can have your own back and love yourself unconditionally, no matter what. He jokes about how a negative review can sometimes trigger his own inner critic- well, I don't know if you will ever see this Aziz, but if you do, I just want to say- thank you. You are helping me to live a more authentic life, a life full of love. You are helping me to overcome years of negative conditioning. And most of all- you are helping me to be on my own side.
