About this listen
Ard and his anchors are off to the capital, but not without his Congratulations—you’re-a-mage horse. Ard has to figure out what it means to be a noble as he struggles with the politics of the capital, fierce beasts and even fiercer rivals. All the while a goddess slips into his household as the staff and works to watch over him and his mother.
Ard has his work cut out for him, but is the capital ready for him? He’s determined to make a mockery of fashion and see what all he can get away with as a not so subtle ‘screw you’ to the new rules he’s been placed under.

Audiobook has an error though, Half way into chapter 12 it suddenly jumps to a section of chapter 25 and then back to where it should be at the start of chapter 13 which is really annoying. Took a Star off for this, otherwise 5 stars

From around the 3/4 mark of the 1st book and up until I've dropped it now in the 2nd, i can't help but feel there are significant flaws here, I understand the intention that the MC is trying to cover up nerves etc with snarky remarks and false bravado and honestly in the 1st half of the 1st book it was working very well and i got some very genuine chuckles, however now we're at the point where it feels forced and its in every single conversation without fail, to the point that its so hard to keep track and keep invested in the story and other characters because all we get is snark and inuendo
all the character building feels shallow, the conflicts feel forced, and maybe im just not feeling this particular MC and its on me but I will look forward to Bruces other work
In addition to this, there seems to be some serious editing issues in these books that have not been in Bruce's other series, sections of wrong chapters being played in this book, even in book one rather than a response of "of coarse" all there was was a pen clicking twice
Love the author but these books are not it for me,
