Mushoku book 1

Really different from the anime fill with much mote detail that been left out. I thought i'm going to have difficult time listen to the audiobook with the narrator but you get used to it.

At long last.

After watching the anime when it originally came out years ago I have waited forever to find a way to enjoy this story on another medium. If you enjoyed the show this is a great way to get more into the world building and the characters that the show doesn’t describe. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Cliffs Performance was fantastic

I have always been a huge fan of the Anime and the manga, it gets so good and wanted to try the LN and the narrator cliff does a fantastic job. My hats off to him for being able to say some of the lines in this LN with a straight face, the beginning is by far the worst in how far degenerate it can get in this story, but the later chapters are so sweet and satisfying . I'll be buying all the LN audio versions done by cliff.

Much better than the anime

I love how the book describes everything more in depth versus how the anime did it I feel like I’m learning so much more about our boy rudeus

backstories are appreciated.

I loved the performance and the fact that you get to hear from other characters perspectives more often.

Cliff Kurt Delivers Excellence

I'm extremely picky when it comes to narrators. I have skipped a lot of interesting books because of it. However, Cliff Kurt is one of the best narrators on this platform. He is on par with Jim Dale in quality, and that is the best compliment I can give a voice actor. I look forward to hearing more books from him. Great work, sir. I applaud you. Keep 'em coming.

As for these novels... I have to preface by saying that I don't read many light novels.

Things I don't like:
This story would probably offend a great many of people. There is an alarming amount of sexual dialog involving children that I find difficult to listen to. I try to view this as a brutally honest inner dialog of a heavily flawed, mentally damaged main character and that helps me to experience the other facets of this story (which are amazing). While the behavior is explainable due to the character's past life, I think it holds the story back from being on par with something like Sword of Truth. While this type of dialog eventually begins to taper out, I would definitely not recommend this series for children.

Things I do like:
The world building is deep and captivating. At the end of each book there is an extra chapter that builds the world ahead of the characters, setting the stage for future events and showing that the author took great care in his world building.

The journey the main character takes is engaging. I'm constantly looking forward to seeing how all of the main characters develop and grow in strength and character. I can't wait to see where they land themselves next and what they will gain from their experiences. It's a grand adventure that makes you think that when you die, maybe you'll be reborn into a world of sword and sorcery and have a similar journey.

degenerate protagonist overshadows a lively fantasy story

Mushoku Tensei's world is fleshed out to a decent degree and certain side characters have personalities (not particularly unique, but that's okay). The magic system gets some attention and the world feels moving and alive.

The narrator is amazing. His voices are varied, though his female voices are very much performed by a male. The main character is given a very appropriate, deep and heavy inner voice. The narrator reads all the lines with intent, and gives a lot of extra flavor to the way the protagonist ruminates in his head.

The main character is my main sticking point though. He is a 30+ y/o who repeatedly is put into sexually tinted interactions with people far (far) younger than him during down time. The interactions themselves are merely uncomfortable, but the inner monologue of the main character is absolutely harrowing, since he keeps wishing and fantasizing for more. My severe distain with him is not shared with the story, which keeps reintroducing this skin-crawling fan service.

Audible should place some 18+ warning tag on this with the appropriate disclaimer tags.

Stellar performance oh all levels

With already having a great story to work with, the voice of Cliff Kurt brings the characters of Mushoku Tensei to life in spectacular fashion, clear defined character voices for all the main cast and a wonderfully deep narrator voice for internal monologues.

This is a treat to listen to and such a calming one too, this is a definite win and brilliant piece for Seven Seas, I am definitely keeping up with this series as I was already a fan but the wonderful voice makes it a million times better.

Really good adaptation!

This narration does justice to the light novel. I was crying at the end! 10/10 can't wait for all the volumes to get out!

Great to hear someone read to you.

Really nice to hear someone reading the book to you.
Been reading the LN as well and can not wait for more audiobooks of the later volume to come out.

The narration is pretty good as well. But I do find the character voices funny but enjoyable.
