Story
In 10 on-the-couch sessions, New Zealand clinical psychologist Karen Nimmo diagnoses, explains and treats Busy as F*ck syndrome, the condition that's consuming us all, whether we realize it or not. If we are going to squeeze the most from ourselves and our all-too-short lives, we need to be able to gauge when our Busy as F*ckness is compromising (or drip-feed destroying) our physical and emotional health, when we're hurting people we love, and when we're becoming that person others want to hide from.

Good kickoff for establishing better habits
I was looking to make more conscious choices around alcohol. I don't fit the criteria of an alcoholic, but I do tend to reach for a glass of wine or whiskey when I'm feeling stressed or anxious. To help me address it, I gave this book a go. Mindful Drinking is short, simple, and easy to follow. The book is well-organized around talking 1) why we drink, 2) why heavy drinking is harmful, and 3) steps to get out of the cycle of heavy. Not everything in this book is relatable to me. The author leans into talking to and about women who are social drinkers. I'm a dude who wants to pour a heavy drink in the hours between when my kids go to bed and I do. But I was still able to take away steps that I think will work for me. I'm in the early stages of my new habits, but I have a good foundation to get me through it.

Good solid advice
This is a good book to get your head in gear and in the right place when it comes to thinking about drinking. It does make a nice change from all the "cut it out for good and go sober" books. This helps you put in place a realistic way to drinking AND think to cut down.
It's more prosecco & pesto, rather than pints and pork scratchings which may put some off, and there's a lot of meditation, mindfulness talk, but the clue is in the title. Well worth a listen if you're starting to lose control of how much booze you put away in the week, but don't want to quit altogether
