Story
In 10 on-the-couch sessions, New Zealand clinical psychologist Karen Nimmo diagnoses, explains and treats Busy as F*ck syndrome, the condition that's consuming us all, whether we realize it or not. If we are going to squeeze the most from ourselves and our all-too-short lives, we need to be able to gauge when our Busy as F*ckness is compromising (or drip-feed destroying) our physical and emotional health, when we're hurting people we love, and when we're becoming that person others want to hide from.

Awesome
This book is exactly what I wanted- I feel like I was the one writing this as I could relate to so much of it. And this is exactly what I wanted was a healthier relationship with alcohol- not to cut it out of my life completely… I feel like most books out there are advice on becoming sober or geared towards alcoholics. I do not have a chemical dependency to alcohol, but know I abuse it for stress relief, as my way of achieving fun in any and all social situations, and made it a priority during weekends. It is time to change my mindset and habits! This book is encouraging. Thank you!

Creative reminders, nothing groundbreaking
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was an easy background listen. The tips and tricks to drink less were nothing new and innovative. Rather, it felt like a good reminder for those ready to have a healthier relationship with alcohol and moderate drinking. I typically enjoy books read by the author, but what I felt was missing was an example of what the author's typical day, week or month looked like in her new mindful drinking world. She never quite goes there or if she did it wasn't emphasized and easily missed. She seemed to drink rather heavily prior to cutting back, so this might not resonate for those whose drinking is already moderate and they are simply looking to drink a bit less.

Dean’s suggestions give hope to the person who wants to cut back and not quit entirely, which I appreciate. For me, the work entailed in living by such strict rules seems harder than giving it up entirely, but I like her take on it. I hope she’s doing well and am curious if she’s still moderating now.

Exactly what I was looking for, ..very helpful...
I listened to many samples of this type of book..not a heavy drinker, but too frequent..like a bad habit at night after 2 jobs ..toying with the idea of quitting but not really feeling that necessity for that..but maybe I will end up there..in any case, I veryuch related to Rose and she is real, and gives excellent tips and im excited about diving in.

Good kickoff for establishing better habits
I was looking to make more conscious choices around alcohol. I don't fit the criteria of an alcoholic, but I do tend to reach for a glass of wine or whiskey when I'm feeling stressed or anxious. To help me address it, I gave this book a go. Mindful Drinking is short, simple, and easy to follow. The book is well-organized around talking 1) why we drink, 2) why heavy drinking is harmful, and 3) steps to get out of the cycle of heavy. Not everything in this book is relatable to me. The author leans into talking to and about women who are social drinkers. I'm a dude who wants to pour a heavy drink in the hours between when my kids go to bed and I do. But I was still able to take away steps that I think will work for me. I'm in the early stages of my new habits, but I have a good foundation to get me through it.

So relatable!
Listening to this book I could relate to so much of what was being said, the situations faced and the thoughts and feelings associated with those situations. It’s empowering to know I can now deal with those situations in a much different way and the answer isn’t at the bottom of a bottle! Highly recommend this to anyone who knows they need to cut down but don’t quite know how to, just yet! Listen to this book and you will!

Good solid advice
This is a good book to get your head in gear and in the right place when it comes to thinking about drinking. It does make a nice change from all the "cut it out for good and go sober" books. This helps you put in place a realistic way to drinking AND think to cut down.
It's more prosecco & pesto, rather than pints and pork scratchings which may put some off, and there's a lot of meditation, mindfulness talk, but the clue is in the title. Well worth a listen if you're starting to lose control of how much booze you put away in the week, but don't want to quit altogether

Very accessible
Like Rosamund, I did a lot of drinking and partying during university and in my first decade of working in London. My social life shrunk enormously after having two children, one of whom is disabled, and my drinking fell into a different camp. Whilst I wasn’t boozing to dangerous levels, my glasses of wine at home felt essential to me. It’s been hard to break the cycle but the one thing that’s genuinely helped has been the Drinkaware app. This book, and Adrian Chiles’, have both been helpful to listen to as I knew I would never, ever want to quit entirely. My parents’ ill health also gave me a bit of a wake up call, and on this point I’d say the key thing about moderating or quitting is you really do need to be ready. I am finally ready and now only drink about 8/10 units in a whole week vs the 20 I was on before. I hope to reduce further as I form a stronger non-drinking habit.
Rosamund’s prose is extremely accessible - the book isn’t heavy on science or psychology, and is more like a long women’s mag article. At points I did feel the writing was a touch banal and patronising, but perhaps that’s just me - overall it’s a valuable listen.

Refreshing
It is so refreshing to find a book which helps with cutting down, which so many of us want to do, rather than abstinence and it’s a really good manual for that.
