مساء يوم الأحد 25/5/2002 وبينما كان يتناول العشاء مع أسرته ، اذ بجرس الباب يدق ليدخل ضابط شرطة يقوم باعتقاله ، وعندما استفسر عن الذنب الذي اقترفه ، أجابه : خمس دقائق وتعود !! .. نُقل الرجل لباجرام ثم لمعتقل جوانتانامو بكوبا ليقضي هناك ستة وعشرين شهرا ، وفي النهاية سلموه شهادة تفيد بأنه لا يمثل خطرا على القوات الأمريكية أو مصالحها في أفغانستان ، ثم أطلقوا سراحه في نفس المكان الذي اعتقل فيه.
