About this listen

A dark mafia romance with duet narration by Tor Thom and CJ Bloom.

Alessandra

My entire life changed when he walked into my father’s café in Tuscany…Il Mostro. The monster. The devilishly handsome mafia don Dario Rosolini.

He and his brothers run this region… and they take everything they want.

Including me. Although Dario has made clear that I am his and ONLY his.

But I’ll fight back, no matter how hard it is.

Not just because I’m afraid of him (although I am)…

But because, deep down, I WANT him…

And I know that giving in to him will ruin me forever.

Dario

As soon as I saw her, I knew I had to have her.

She was innocent and beautiful… so unlike everything else in my world.

I’m the head of my family now.

Every mafioso in Italy wants me and my brothers dead.

I live with a sword dangling over my head…

But none of that matters when I look into her eyes.

I want her.

I have to have her.

And no matter how much she protests and fights…

I WILL possess her, body and soul.

Mafia Kings: Dario is the first in a dark Mafia Romance series.

There is no cheating. There IS an HEA.

Warning: this book contains adult situations, profanity, violence, and dark romance themes.

The story was well-written, and I enjoyed it. I'm glad I have added this one to my collection. No doubt I'll circle back and listen again.

Performance
I love that it was a duet; this was fabulous.
Unfortunately, I have to say that one element I love about this story is Alessandra's sweetness and innocence, but the female narrator ruined this for me
me. While the female narrator is very talented and delivers a stellar performance, her voice and accent (breathy and pronunciation of words ending in "ing" as "in") don't suit the sweet/innocent Italian character, imo. C J Bloom sounds more like a honky tonk middle-aged woman in my Australian mind. I picture her as so many characters I would love to see her perform, but not this. The story also adds to this hurdle for me. When Alessandra is outspoken in the female narrator's accent, I can't reconcile it with the rest of the character.

Characters
The MMC was exactly what I like 🔥, and the brothers and household added depth to the story and entertainment.

Narration brought it down for me
