وقد نشأ هذا الاسم من خلال رسالة كتبها شخص يدّعي بأنّه القاتل ولكن يُعتقد بأنّها كانت خدعة للتمويه..

شملت الجرائم المنسوبة لجاك السفاح مومسات تمَّ تقطيع حناجرهنَّ وتشويه بطونهنَّ بشكلٍ يدل على امتلاك القاتل خبرة تشريحية وجراحية، وقد انتشرت وقتها الرسائل التي تصل غلى الشرطة محتويةً جزءًا من أعضاء الجثث كنصف كلية أو لسان تجت عنوان رسائل من الجحيم !!

وبسبب الطابع الوحشي الفريد لهذه الجرائم وبسبب طريقة تعامل الإعلام مع القصّة وعدم الوصول إلى القاتل فقد كثرت الأساطير حولها لكن هذه الرواية ستكشف لكَ جانبًا خفيًّا لم يكن معروفًا من قبل عن جزّار لندن..جاك السفاح!!
