About this listen
SOON TO BE A TV MINISERIES ON PARAMOUNT+
WINNER OF THE DANGER PRIZE 2018
John Ibrahim's incredible life story told in his own words.
Last King of the Cross lays bare Australia's most notorious underworld figure.
In the mongrel tongue of the streets, John writes of fleeing war-torn Tripoli with his family and growing up in Sydney's rough and tumble west - before establishing himself as a tough guy and teen delinquent, then a bouncer, enforcer and nightclub king on the Golden Mile.
Bullets fly, blades flash and bodies fall. In a city of shadows, John builds his army and empire - partying like a playboy prince of darkness while staying one step ahead of the cops, the outlaw gangs and hungry triggermen, plotting to take him and his family down.
Crazier than Goodfellas, more compelling than The Godfather, Last King of the Cross is a colourful crime saga like no other and powerful proof that truth is always stranger than fiction.

AN ENTERTAINING READ FOR ANY GANGSTER OR WANNA BE
A true inspiration, how even the tough guy can do the job well, talentedly charming with his aggressive approach to doing things the right way, at least with the way he portrays himself and his businesses, which John Ibrahim does superbly well, and by listening to Last King of the Cross, you get a real identity check to the business man and entrepreneur that John Ibrahim proficiently sketches with each sentence, and chapter to this entertaining book, which has a lot of gangster to it, in a positive way, not in a thuggish way, but in a hard persona that obviously is successful enough to of done it more than once, and at many times, all at the same times as running the complexity that Last King of the Cross portrays with each slice indulged, of the John Ibrahim delicacy served within this audio books pages, words, and paragraphs.
I really look forward to throwing this on when I can and it lasts 10 hours, so you get your moneys worth, and it is always a relaxing time to hear some smart talk, which makes proper and perfect business sense, and common sense. I find it real cool, how John Ibrahim keeps his 'hardened' personality alive, with his obviously charming ways he handles himself, his staff, his venues, and all things John Ibrahim.
Thanks for being so honest about your past troubles in running most of the cross, and hell, pretty much the entire night life in Sydney, and thanks for being a god that can talk the talk still as much as you have already walked the walked, but I am sure can do much more walking and talking as he becomes ever more successful with this release, and any other items relating to this purchase. Last King of the Cross shirts would be a treat :P LONG LIVE DCM's

Vividly Entertaining
Could not stop listening, completed it over 3 days and if you have nothing else to do, would be an easy finish in one setting. A thrilling perspective from the other side of media, where John opens his heart all while standing strong in the eyes of adversity. A historic must

Best autobiography of decade
Believe me I have read many autobiographies, biographies and literature.
This brought me on an exciting ride of alternate universe only an hour and a bit away from my life in Wollongong. I’m at the same age as Ibrahim so although I lead a much simpler and sheltered life I knew of these places and the shenanigans in Kings Cross, and around the same time he was partying around the world in the 1990s so was I and it’s true he tried to bring that vibe to Sydney! This audible was the best I ever bought!
It’s so interesting that I listened to it in one day, I had to stop while attending to some business here and there but I looked forward to getting back to it.
Loved it!
Wish him and his family well!

enjoyable
I really enjoyed this. I was surprised but I was very intrigued. I started out sceptical as I don't usually read biographies or memoirs but I found this to be interesting and I couldn't stop listening.

Worth it!
This self written book is a good insight into the other world. Johns own words are interesting and sound very true. It is a good book and one for the replay list. To hear his side of the story is the best fact about this book.

Interesting and well worth a listen!
This podcast/book was very well written and narrated perfectly by Alan King.
Interesting to hear the other side of the story, John Ibrahims life and the history of Kings Cross Night Clubs for that era.
Recommend listening to this podcast - you will not be disappointed.
