Suspenseful Romance

I have enjoyed every book written by Lindzee! This new suspenseful romance series is excellent with unexpected twists and turns. I really enjoyed book 1 in this series and book 2 is just as great.

Narration is well done and brings the story to life.

The characters are well developed and interesting. Layla’s life seems perfect but things start crumbling down when she comes home. Tyler decides to make a huge leap of faith and goes after what he wants.

Lindzee’s stories are well written and clean. They are appropriate for any age group. I’m looking forward to book 3.

Love and misunderstanding

This is the second book in this series. I loved the first one. I enjoyed this one as well but I think I preferred the first one better. Both books had misunderstandings going on through the book. We meet Layla and Tyler in the first book and it was fun to see the rest of their story. We briefly get an update on Paige and Nick in this book. They are both stand alone books but I think they are more enjoyable read together. I would have liked to see a bit more conclusion with what happened with her family in the end. It felt a little to rushed in the end. I enjoyed listening to it in audiobook but I didn’t like the voices as much on this one as I have with some other of Lindzee’s with a different narrator.

Sweet Love

Laya and Tyler are so sweet to watch fall for each other. I loved how sweet this love story was with some added suspense to spice it up and to keep you on your toes. I really enjoyed how everything unfolded and how these two came together. Karly is a new narrator to me, but I loved listening to her voice in this story.

Excellent

I have really enjoyed all of Lindzee's books. This was not an exception. It is a fun book that puts her in quite the predicament. She wants to be loyal to her family but learns things that no daughter wants to know. Her old boyfriend comes into town just as her father wants her to be engaged to someone else.

Lots of twists and turns. Great book!

Magnificent Mansions

Original review (September 2017): The protagonists in this novel were secondary characters in the previous novel in this series but simply knowing they'd met before is sufficient for the plot in this book, which is practically gothic. Dad wants Layla to marry the son of a friend to save the homestead--which, in this case, is an antebellum mansion (or two). Unraveling the mystery puts her whole family at risk. And meanwhile, what about love? Can the somewhat spoiled heiress find true love and happiness? I raced right through this to find out!

Almost one year later: Yee Haw! The AUDIOBOOK is here and was even more fun than simply reading, thanks to Karly Hutchins' delightful narration. Kentucky and South Carolina accents are present but not belabored and this page turner remains captivating.

Different Twist to a Love Triangle

You love your home and your parents and in order to save both, you are told you must date one of your parent's friends son. At the same time, the love of your life moves to your town and gets a job at the party where your engagement s announced. Neither you nor your fiance knows anything about this. The story twists and turns from there. No one is happy but the real man confronts your father and all of the lies come out. The narrator was good and made the story interesting. The ending was very good. I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review.

Fun Snappy Dialogue!

Kiss Me in The Rain by Lindzee Armstrong is the perfect escape for someone wanting to take a break and relax for a few hours. Although I’m not a big fan of fake fiancée love stories, this one is different because our heroine, Layla Anderson, doesn’t fall in love with her fake fiancé. Instead, she falls for someone she met over the summer while chaperoning a group of teenagers in Europe.

The story essentially begins when Layla returns home to her family’s estate - an old tobacco planation in South Carolina - at the end of the summer. She is extremely disappointed that her tremendous crush with fellow chaperon Tyler Keeton never developed past the flirting stage. Layla is not home for more than a day before realizing that her family's estate is in trouble financially. Her father informs her that the only way to save the plantation is for her to pose as the new girlfriend to a recently divorced son of a new investor, which she agrees to.

Unbeknownst to Layla, Tyler moves to South Carolina with the sole intent of making up for lost time with Layla. To further that effort, he accepts a job as a bartender at her father’s estate. Hearing that she is engaged so soon after returning from Europe, Tyler feels the fool and mistakenly believes Layla was looking for a summer fling before settling down, which is far from the truth. After several other misunderstandings the pair join forces when Layla suspects someone is embezzling from the family’s coffers. Together they figure out who did it and why, while at the same time confirming that their mutual attraction to each other can’t be denied.

I listened to the Audible version of Kiss Me in the Rain narrated by Karly Hutchins. She did an admirable job delivering believable characters and snappy dialogue. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook and look forward to future books by Lindzee Armstrong.

Who doesn't dream of being kissed in the rain?

Having read the book first, I knew the story. It is great! Light, easy to follow along, but still manages to keep you on your toes. Karly Hutchins does a fantastic job narrating Lindzee Armstrong's work. Karly's articulation of each individual character is such that I wasn't ready for the book to be over. Over all highly recommend this!
