About this listen
From USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry comes a small town, neighbors to lovers romance.
Memphis Ward arrives in Quincy, Montana, on the fifth worst day of her life. She needs a shower. She needs a snack. She needs some sanity. Because moving across the country with her newborn baby is by far the craziest thing she’s ever done.
But maybe it takes a little crazy to build a good life. If putting the past behind her requires a thousand miles and a new town, she’ll do it if it means a better future for her son. Even if it requires setting aside the glamour of her former life. Even if it requires working as a housekeeper at The Eloise Inn and living in an apartment above a garage.
It’s there, on the fifth worst day of her life, that she meets the handsomest man she’s ever laid eyes on. Knox Eden is a beautiful, sinful dream, a chef and her temporary landlord. With his sharp, stubbled jaw and tattooed arms, he’s raw and rugged and everything she’s never had - and never will. Because after the first worst day of her life, Memphis learned a good life requires giving up on her dreams too. And a man like Knox Eden will only ever be a dream.
©2021 Devney Perry LLC (P)2021 Devney Perry LLCthe story was slow in pace however that's what the plotline called for, there wasn't much suspense although there could have been if Ms Perry chose to wrote in that direction.
but it book was kept simple and concentrated on the H and h. Other family characters popped which was nice and that's the reason why I love series.
I got a bit annoyed with the phone ringing. it needed to be said as it kept the intrigue alive but I just wanted her to turn it off!
babies and crying, for me personally, makes me cringe, but again, that's what the plot was about.
it was a slow burn between the main pair and the adversary was a little unexpected twist .
all in all cute little story about a single mum with a past. and a hero with a sadder one.
if you like sweet babies and slow burn alphas then you'll like this, personally, not my thing.
narrators did it for me.
not my trope but I listened anyway

All the moments we had with all the Eden family members was amazing, it made the story so much more dynamic and well rounded. I expected and predicted the conflict however I still sat there with my jaw on the floor and my tummy was in knots.
TROPES: single mum, grumpy man, small town, forced proximity
TRIGGERS: child missing, stalking, toxic relationship (parents), emotional abuse

The story follows Memphis Ward and her new born baby as she starts her new life in Montana, setting aside her luxury former life, working as a house keeper and living above a garage, all for the future of her son. Knox Eden, the perfect chef and her temporary landlord doesn’t like this new invasion on his life, especially when it bought back bad memories. But things change, and so do they, learning to trust each other.

Knox Eden. I. Love. You. HAHAHA. Knox is tattooed, very stubborn, very honest, a great chef and a loyal man! Like what isn’t there to love about him. He holds nothing back, and when he knows he knows. He holds nothing back with Memphis or Drake and his family means the world to him. He picked her up when she was at her lowest and supported all her decisions, helping her along the way, giving her space when she needed it. He had his past experience, and this did make him hesitate a little but he was so determined that this relationship would be totally different.
Memphis Ward! I actually love this name so much and love her character sooo much more! She is so strong, determined, brave and such an amazing mum. She picked up her and her son’s lives and made the decision to make it better. She was determined to do everything on her own, like she has for ages, going through the typical mum struggles but I loved how she slowly let Knox help her. I was very impressed with the way she stood up for herself against those who bought her down. You could really see her grow as you continued reading.
This was such an easy and quick listen that I will definitely go back and probably read my physical copy as well! The tropes are what drew me to this one, I can’t pass up a “not his baby” book. I can’t wait to get into the next book and continue the series. There were so many amazing moments in this story that I absolutely loved so much. I 1000000% recommend this book
