Not as good as the two previous books

Although I liked this book, I didn’t love it like the two previous books. I didn’t feel much progress was made between the two characters as I would have hoped. I thought this book drug out way longer than was needed. Just my opinion. I still can’t wait to find out where it is going to go and will continue with this series. The narrators did a good job with the characters.

Good with slow parts.

Such a great story just too repetitive. Over and over the same feelings expressed in the same way or only slightly varied. If it was rehashing the abuse and need to heal, I’d understand but it isn’t just that. The redundancy is too much. I’ve almost stop listening several times. I don’t because I keep waiting for the needless ramblings to stop. At some point you must realize you’ve already written that almost exact same paragraph twenty times. Plus a few times it is actually contradictory, not just the changing emotions and internal struggles that contradict but the out right change of facts. There are so many levels to be explored with these characters, there is no need to fluff the story to fill pages. Other that what I’ve mentioned, this is a great story. I’m vested in the characters. I relate to their emotional hurdles and struggles to be together. I truly enjoy hearing both sides and all the internal thoughts shared with me. So it’s worth listening but very boring in between story progression.

Slow...

The narration was fine and I enjoyed the first 2 books, but this one was really slow.

Ms. Winters’ style of overly descriptive characterizations seemed to annoy me more than usual because the story moved at a snail’s pace.

Although I’d like to find out how Elder & Pim’s story ends I don’t think I can put myself through several more hours of this kind of dialogue. I’ll look at other reviews to get this information.

Almost aggravating!!!

Ok so this book was repeating repeating and repeating when it came to their emotions... many times I wanted to stop listening... I was getting aggravated throughout the whole freaking book... the sex parts got on my last nerves... you get turnt on then get turnt off to the point where u want to fast forward... Good story line but all this to see nothing was really conquered... Too drawn out but not enough...

It got boring and repetitive

So 2/3 of the book is a monologue of them emphasizing their problems. Again. It’s like okay I get it! You got issues. It was so boring to hear Pim and Elder complain over and over. “I should do this, I should do that.” “I’m afraid, I’m not afraid. I want to do this. I don’t want to do this.” Blah blah blah. Other than the actual story line being so whiny, Kylie and Eric did a wonderful performance as always!

No one

The reviews I read complained that this episode in the series dragged on, but I didn't notice. I thought it moved well, and the narrators did a fantastic job with their pacing and accents.

The genuine dual narration in this series is quite unusual. Its almost like a radio play.

The previous book made me cry. So did this. Its such a strong dramatization of the kind of psychological damage that sex trafficking causes. It hurts to hear it.

This is the first book I've listened to where the sex scenes made me cry.

I just want to put in a plug here for organizations like Operation Underground Railroad who fight sex trafficking. They deserve our support.

Awesome read

As I read more and more of the books in the series I get pulled deeper and deeper into Pim and Elder’s story.

There is a war going on between Pim and Tasmin. In this book we get to see more of Pim disappear and Tasmin emerge. What I love about her is she might be bruised, scared, and ghost of her past haunting but she is not broken. Some reading this might disagree, this is just how I look at her. She truly is a strong woman. Has to be to endure all she has endured but yet keeps going.

Elder has so many secrets. His true past has always been slight a mystery. Who is he really? What made him the way his is? We have seen some of the scares his past has left on him. We have even got to see bits and pieces of his self stripped away. But in this book we get to see a little more. We get to see his past come back and haunt him. We get to see the part of himself he is trying to run from come to surface. My heart truly breaks for him. He is damaged. He feels unworthy of something good happening to him. He feels that every thing he touches he destroys. He feels unworthy of love. For this my heart truly breaks.

We get to see some progress between Elder and Pim in this book. We get to see them get closer then they every have been but we also get to see the darkness coming to claim them. The author had once said that this is not your romanic love story. It is not a romanic fairytale, well she was correct. This book is truly a dark romance and can have a lot of tiggers for some. I had went into this book knowing this and I have to say I am truly loving the story. Though every time I hear the word knickers I laugh..LOL

I had listen to the audio and let me tell you the author did and amazing job picking them out. I so love how the male narrator reads Elder’s parts and the female narrator reads Pims parts. It truly helps the book come more to life. Looking forward to doing the audio of book four.

Not as slow as people said! Excellent

I read some reviews on this book saying that it was slow paced and sometimes even annoyingly so. I somewhat agree that some parts were slow, but it's impossible to deny that so much happened in this part of the series. And I loved every bit of these developments. I'm about to move on to the next and I was very satisfied with this book.

A bit slow.

I liked this entry in the Pennies series. I didn’t love it though. It was a little repetitive. Pim gets a little bolder in this book. I don’t understand Elder though. He was just to wish-washy for me. The only thing that I found interesting was the mention of Jethro Hawks name. (From the Indebted series). The narrators did an excellent job. Four stars on this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mind blowing

I am absolutely addicted. This series is my Pim and I am it's Elder. I cannot get enough. I read while cooking, when I'm supposed to be sleeping, when I'm supposed to be spending time with family. I don't want to give away any spoilers, this series doesn't deserve to be cheated like that. It has completely consumed me and captured me in totality.

The interaction between Pim and Elder continues like an intimate dance, back and forth charged with an electrifying charge that neither fully understand. As we learn more about Elder we understand his reluctance to be intimate with Pim who has regained more of herself. Consumed by their electric charge, like batteries the positive charge Pim gains in strength, confidence and control drawn from Elder, leaves him inexplicably negative losing strength and battling self control.

I am about to dive into the next instalment of this series, needless to say I am on tender hooks with unadulterated excitement with great anticipation to see where next this series will take me.

Pepper Winters i am in awe.. and completely obsessed with this series. Not sure whether to thank you or scream at you!!

NOTE: You MUST read Pennies, then Dollars before touching this instalment.

Drivel!

What a load of nonsense! 1st book OK. it ended on a cliffhanger so I was reeled into downloading the 2nd.
In this 2nd book I started to find both protagonists irritating. Reviews warned about the 3rd being a bore and I toyed with the idea of skipping straight to the fourth book.....But like the idiots in this book, I acted nonsensically. The reviews were sooo right.
A Major snooze job. What I will say is, pepper has the art of sending you into semi-consciousness until the last 10mins of the entire book.
The fake English accent is not great. Mis-pronounced words can be forgiven, (even though they grate on the ears and teeth like nails scraping across a blackboard), but bad grammar by the author cannot.
I’m writing this review with 2hrs of the book still to go. So very tempted to skip to the last 10mins and be done with it all.
