Award-winning comedian Sarah Millican plays Sarah, life counsellor and modern-day agony aunt in the collected first two series of this BBC Radio 4 comedy. Solving the nation's problems with her support group, she wants you to live life to the utmost, and she's got tons of ideas of how to help. Story
When Jo Brand hosted Have I Got News For You late last year, her calm explanation of the effects of sexism on women to a bemused all-male cast turned into a viral phenomenon. There has been a whole tradition of books over hundreds of years where a father shares his wisdom with his son - started by Lord Chesterfield in the 18th century - while women have been silent (aka bullied into thinking their advice wasn't worth writing down). This book puts a stop to all that.

Story
No Shame is a very funny, candid and emotional ride of a memoir by one of our most beloved comedians. The working-class son of a coach driver and the youngest member of the Noel Coward Society, Tom Allen grew up in '90s suburbia as the eternal outsider. In these hilarious, honest and heart-breaking stories Tom recalls observations on childhood, his adolescence, the family he still lives with and his attempts to come out and negotiate the gay dating scene. They are written with his trademark caustic wit and warmth, and will entertain, surprise and move you in equal measure.

Story
'Between the Stops is a sort of a memoir, my sort. It's about a bus trip really, because it's my view from the Number 12 bus (mostly top deck, the seat at the front on the right), a double-decker that plies its way from Dulwich, in South East London, where I was living, to where I sometimes work - at the BBC, in the heart of the capital. It's not a sensible way to write a memoir at all, probably, but it's the way things pop into your head as you travel, so it's my way'.

One of Australia’s favourite and most multitalented entertainers provides hilarious and honest life advice in this candid collection of cautionary tales. Kitty Flanagan has been locked in an industrial freezer in Western Australia and insulted about the size of her lady parts in Singapore and borne witness to the world’s most successful wife swap in suburban Sydney. It’s these valuable lessons from The University of Life that have taught her so many things, including the fact that cliches like ‘The University of Life’ are reeeally annoying.

Story
In his first memoir, Josh Widdicombe tells the story of a strange rural childhood, the kind of childhood he only realised was weird when he left home and started telling people about it. From only having four people in his year at school, to living in a family home where they didn't just not bother to lock the front door, they didn't even have a key. Using a different television show of the time as its starting point for each chapter, Watching Neighbours Twice a Day... is part-childhood memoir, part-comic history of '90s television and culture.

- By Amazon Customer on 10-06-2022
Publisher's Summary
Part autobiography, part self-help, part confession, part celebration of being a common-or-garden woman, part collection of synonyms for nunny, Sarah Millican's debut audiobook delves into her super normal life with daft stories, funny tales and proper advice on how to get past life's blips - like being good at school but not good at friends, the excitement of IBS and how to blossom postdivorce.
If you've ever worn glasses at the age of six, worn an off-the-shoulder gown with no confidence, been contacted by an old school bully, lived in your childhood bedroom in your 30s, been gloriously dumped in a Frankie and Benny's, cried so much you felt great, been for a romantic walk with a dog or worn leggings two days in a row even though they smelt of wee from a distance, then this is your audiobook. If you haven't done those things but wish you had, this is your audiobook. If you just want to laugh on a train/sofa/toilet or under your desk at work, this is your audiobook.

Funny and poignant
I bought this audio book to listen to walking to and from work. Sarah's lilting voice belies the bittersweet journey of her life, overcoming the lasting effect of childhood bullying and resulting low self esteem to become the Queen of the funny anecdotes. A champion of a book detailing her early determination to better her circumstances and resulting success. A good read for anyone feeling downtrodden or lost with its keep going! message.

Disappointing but probably my fault
I'd seen her on TV on programs like Would I Lie To You? ...I live in Australia...and she was funny and likeable, and the site recommended the title to me, however I found it overly crude and without the subtlety of the greats of English comedy over the years. They didn't need to be "in your face" like this. My mistake in not doing my homework, I guess.
