About this listen

A forbidden obsession. Unyielding family allegiance. Three deadly challenges.

The Human

When a trip into the forest to collect a rare mushroom goes horribly wrong, I find myself falling through a fairy portal and straight into the arms of the Unseelie Fae prince. The dangerously unhinged and handsome Unseelie Fae prince.

What could be more horrible than that? He thinks I'm an assassin sent by the humans to kill him, not a biologist.

Determined to kill me first and rid himself of the human he has unwillingly grown obsessed with, yet also needing to entertain his people, the villain challenges me to three deadly trials.

If I survive, I gain my freedom. But if not...

The Fae

I've never felt anything but hate and loathing until my eyes found hers—the vile human assassin's. She is a parasite that has mercilessly latched onto my mind and won't let me free.

My hand itches to be ungloved and feel her smooth skin, even though I would never. The Unseelie Fae royals would rather burn than touch a repulsive human.

I fear that if I do not destroy the girl soon, she may be the only thing that's capable of truly destroying me.

Good story line with a great twist at the end, looking forward to the sequel.

let's just say, that plot was definitely not expected at all... it literally had my mouth on the floor by the end.

Storyline was really silly and laughable. Ridiculous really. I wanted to like it but it took a really weird turn toward the last several chapters. Not sure if it was made worse by the over exaggerating tone of the narration.

Not sure what all the hype was about.

Fresh take on human and fae worlds. Can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series

Okay I read this strictly because of a exaggerated TikTok video. I give it a half n half, it is detailed more than need to be in the beginning with which I found boring, the storyline itself half way through got interesting, the twist end did not see that coming, but would I continue to read the next book? I honestly don’t know? Maybe I would just out of curiosity, rather than pure excitement to want to read it.

Good read

I was impatient in the beginning and wanted to get into it quicker but I stuck it out and overall an interesting book. I don’t like being read to but found this narration tolerable. I liked how it swapped from a male to female voice depending on which character was telling the story.

A good listen

I can’t wait for the next book. This was super interesting I really like the MC and of course the twist really solidified it. Maybe I haven’t delved far enough into fae stories but I have not read/listened to any stories like this before! Closest could be ACOTAR

The narration was really well done and helped add a layer of emotion that I probably wouldn’t have been able to conjure had I been reading alone

So interesting!

Gobsmacked at those plot twists. I had to go back and listen to it a couple times to make sure I understood what was going on. Can't wait for book 2.

Those plot twists

What I liked: Beginning of the story and the relationships forming between characters.

What I disliked: The plot twist! It just doesn’t fit or make sense. Even the part about the queens in her childhood seems ridiculous, I finished this book months ago and randomly I’ll remember it and become agitated about the ending lol. There were many other things that bothered me but this was the main one.

Plot twist didn’t make sense
